Before receiving your PADI Open Water Diver certification, you will need to successfully complete a water skills assessment, which includes swimming 200 meters/yards without stopping (or 300 meters/yards with mask, fins, and snorkel) and floating/treading water for 10 minutes.
The minimum age for a PADI Junior Open Water Diver course is 10 years old. Divers aged 10-11 can dive to 12 meters with a professional or parent/guardian. Divers aged 12-14 can dive to 18 meters with any certified adult. At 15, they upgrade to a full PADI Open Water Diver certification.
To gain the PADI Open Water Diver certification with DivExplore, it will take around a month, including 4 pool sessions, 4 open water dives over 2 days, and eLearning to be completed in your own time.
The course price includes: PADI eLearning Advanced Open Water Diver materials, Theory tuition & course instruction, PADI eCertification, Full scuba kit hire, Air fills, 5 open water dives.
Upon successful completion, you will be certified to dive to a maximum depth of 30 meters (100 feet). For Junior Advanced Open Water Divers (12-14 years old), the maximum depth is 21 meters (70 feet).
All equipment for the course will be provided, including mask, snorkel, fins, BCD, regulator, wetsuit, boots, gloves, hood, dive computer or depth gauge and timer, weight system, and compass. Specialized equipment for certain Adventure Dives will also be provided at no extra cost.
