Discover Scuba Diving

The PADI Discover Scuba Diver program at Ocean Turtle Diving provides an unparalleled introduction to the underwater realm for absolute beginners. This experience is meticulously designed for safety and comfort, taking place entirely within a controlled swimming pool environment. Participants will gain hands-on experience with essential scuba equipment, learn vital underwater communication techniques using hand signals, and master fundamental diving skills under the direct guidance of a certified PADI Professional. This initial foray into diving is structured to build confidence and familiarity with the aquatic environment before considering further certification. This program serves as an excellent opportunity to 'test the waters' and determine your affinity for scuba diving without the commitment of a full certification course. The typical duration is approximately two hours, encompassing a thorough briefing, familiarization with all scuba gear, and a substantial in-water practice session lasting about an hour. For those who prefer to prepare beforehand, PADI eLearning is an optional component, requiring only 20-30 minutes to cover the theoretical aspects. This efficient structure ensures you gain meaningful experience in a short timeframe. To participate, individuals must be medically fit for diving and at least 10 years of age; younger children aged 8 or 9 can engage with the PADI Seal Team program for a similar pool-based experience. While no prior diving experience is necessary, a comfortable disposition in the water and the ability to swim a short distance are prerequisites. Upon successful completion of the Discover Scuba Diver experience, you will not receive a formal certification, but you will emerge with invaluable practical knowledge and the confidence to potentially enroll in the PADI Open Water Diver course. It's a perfect stepping stone to a lifetime of underwater exploration. Ocean Turtle Diving, a PADI-certified center, emphasizes this program as the ideal starting point for anyone curious about the marine world. The focus is on creating a positive and encouraging first impression of scuba diving. While specific dive site details are not applicable as all in-water activities occur in a pool, the program adheres strictly to PADI standards, ensuring a globally recognized introductory experience. This initial dive is designed to spark a passion for marine conservation and exploration.

Open Water Diver

The PADI Open Water Diver certification from Ocean Turtle Diving is your passport to exploring over 70 percent of our planet's underwater realms. This globally recognized entry-level qualification is structured for flexibility, allowing you to complete theory and pool sessions separately from your open water dives. You will learn essential scuba principles and safety skills under the guidance of experienced PADI Instructors, preparing you for the exciting world beneath the waves. The course culminates in four open water dives, reaching depths of up to 18 meters, where you'll apply your newly acquired skills in a real dive environment. Ocean Turtle Diving offers a blended learning approach for the PADI Open Water Diver course. You'll begin with PADI eLearning, dedicating 5-10 hours to mastering diving theory at your own pace. This is followed by an in-person orientation at the dive centre, including a comprehensive gear fitting with modern equipment. Practical skills are then honed in a swimming pool, with depths up to 5 meters, building your confidence through controlled 'mini dives'. This structured progression ensures you are well-prepared for the open water phase. The open water training takes place over two days at a dedicated dive site, allowing you to experience the thrill of diving in natural conditions. These dives are conducted to a maximum depth of 18 meters, adhering to PADI standards for entry-level divers. While the provided data does not specify exact UK locations or Spanish dive centre details, these sessions are designed to apply the skills learned in confined water and introduce you to the underwater ecosystem. The total course duration is approximately four days, with options to condense the theory and pool sessions into a single intensive day in London or spread them over two days in Hampshire for a more relaxed pace. To embark on this adventure, you must be medically fit for diving and comfortable in the water. Essential prerequisites include the ability to swim 200 meters without aids and to tread water for 10 minutes. The minimum age for certification is 10 years, with divers aged 10-14 receiving a Junior Open Water Diver certification. While basic scuba gear is provided, students are required to supply their own mask and snorkel. Additional costs may include entry fees for inland open water dive sites, typically ranging from £15 to £24 per day, which are not included in the course price.

PADI Seal Team

The PADI Seal Team program at Ocean Turtle Diving offers a foundational aquatic experience for young adventurers aged 8 and 9. This introductory course focuses on building comfort and basic skills in a controlled pool environment. Participants will engage in fun 'AquaMissions' led by a PADI Instructor, learning essential scuba techniques such as breathing underwater, mask clearing, and regulator recovery. These missions are designed to be engaging, incorporating underwater games that make learning enjoyable and effective. The program is structured to introduce children to the sensation of weightlessness and the wonders of the underwater world safely. Ocean Turtle Diving structures the PADI Seal Team into two stages. The initial stage, covering AquaMissions 1-5, certifies the child as a PADI Seal Team Member. This phase covers the core skills needed to be comfortable with scuba equipment. The subsequent stage, PADI Master Seal Team, involves ten advanced AquaMissions. These missions introduce more complex concepts like using a dive torch for simulated night dives, exploring wreck simulations, mastering buoyancy control, and understanding environmental awareness. Completing these advanced missions provides excellent preparation for the Junior Open Water Diver course upon reaching the age of 10. Participants are required to be comfortable in the water and medically fit for diving. The program includes self-study using a PADI Seal Team workbook, which features puzzles and logbook pages to reinforce learning. All in-water training takes place in a pool, with each stage typically requiring one day to complete. This approach ensures a focused and progressive learning experience. Ocean Turtle Diving's commitment to safety and fun makes it an ideal place for children to begin their scuba diving journey. This program is an excellent stepping stone for young divers. It builds confidence, fosters a love for the aquatic environment, and provides a solid base of skills. The PADI Seal Team certification is a recognized achievement that prepares children for further PADI courses, such as the Junior Open Water Diver certification. The course typically takes 3–4 days. Part A (theory and pool) can be compacted into one full day in London or spread over two days in Hampshire. Part B (open water dives) is spread over two days in lakes in the UK or at their dive centre in Spain.

To enrol on the PADI Divemaster course, you must be at least 18 years old, be a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent), be a PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent), have Emergency First Response training within the last 24 months, have a minimum of 40 logged dives to start (60 to qualify), and be medically fit to dive with a doctor's signed questionnaire.
