Cursos Disponibles
13 cursosRESCUE DIVER
The course that changes how you think about diving. At Buzos Merluzos you'll go through pool skills (self-rescue, panicking and unconscious diver rescues), then scenario-based training in the sea with real emergency simulations. It's challenging but consistently described as the most rewarding course in the PADI system. Prerequisite for Divemaster.
Advanced Open Water
Next step after Open Water, extending your depth limit to 30 metres and introducing you to different dive types. The course includes a deep dive and a navigation dive as mandatory dives, plus three elective dives chosen from Night, Buoyancy, Wrecks, Search and Recovery, and Species ID. Theory is lighter than Open Water.
Buceo Profundo
Deep Diving specialty extending your limit to 40 metres. The four progressive open water dives at Buzos Merluzos cover descent techniques, buoyancy control at depth, narcosis awareness, and dive planning. Opens access to wrecks, walls, and marine life that exist only at those depths along the Costa Tropical.
Buceo Nocturno
Night Diving specialty with three progressive night dives. Buzos Merluzos takes you through lighting equipment, night navigation by compass and natural references, and the different marine life that comes out after dark along the Costa Tropical coast. Minimum certification: Open Water.
Dominio de la Flotabilidad
Buoyancy Mastery specialty with two open water dives. At Buzos Merluzos the focus is on fine-tuning your weighting, achieving neutral buoyancy consistently, and improving your body position in the water. Less air consumption, less environmental contact, more relaxed diving — this course has a noticeable impact on dive quality.
Buceo en Pecios
Wreck Diving specialty with four progressive dives on actual wrecks. Covers exterior exploration, reel and line navigation, fin technique to avoid silt, and limited penetration. The site mentions price on request — contact Buzos Merluzos directly for current pricing.
Buceo con Nitrox
Enriched Air Nitrox specialty at Buzos Merluzos. Available with or without dives — you can do the theory-only version or add two Nitrox dives, including the option of combining the Nitrox certification with dives from another course you are taking at the same time (Advanced, Night, etc.). Good for anyone doing multi-dive days.
Navegación Subacuática
Underwater Navigation specialty with three open water dives. At Buzos Merluzos this covers compass navigation at the surface and underwater, distance estimation, natural navigation using terrain and marine life as reference points, and completing multi-turn patterns without losing orientation.
ReActivate
For certified divers who have been out of the water for months or years. At Buzos Merluzos this is a theory review (online or in person), equipment assembly practice, and a single sea dive covering buoyancy, safety skills, and whatever you feel rusty on. Gets you back in the water with confidence.
Emergency First Response
CPR and first aid certification required before starting the Rescue Diver course. The EFR at Buzos Merluzos covers CPR techniques, first aid, AED use, bandaging, splinting, and emergency scenario practice. No previous first aid experience needed.
OPEN WATER DIVER
The standard PADI Open Water certification, valid worldwide to 18 metres. The course at Buzos Merluzos includes online theory at your own pace, 5 confined water dives for skills practice, and 4 open water dives in the sea. Felipe's students consistently report feeling fully prepared and genuinely enjoying the process.
BAUTISMO DE BUCEO
A first-time scuba experience for complete beginners. At Buzos Merluzos this means a short theory session, some pool practice, then a real sea dive with Felipe by your side the whole time. Minimum age 10. If you decide to continue, the experience counts toward the full Open Water course.
SCUBA DIVER
The intermediate PADI certification for people who want to start diving but prefer a shorter commitment. Certifies you to 12 metres with a PADI professional. At Buzos Merluzos this is 3 confined water dives and 2 open water dives — you can upgrade to full Open Water later with just 3 more dives and 2 extra theory modules.
