Manta rays are visible all year, while Mola mola are most commonly seen from July to October. Water temperatures can range from 16°C to 28°C, so a 5mm wetsuit and hood are recommended.
Nusa Penida is renowned for its Mola mola (Giant Sunfish) and Manta Rays, which can be seen year-round at sites like Manta Point and Manta Bay. You can also encounter reef sharks, Marble rays, Hawksbill and Green turtles, various reef fish like Giant Trevally and Clownfish, Moray eels, Stonefish, Scorpionfish, and nudibranchs.
Diving in Nusa Penida often involves drift dives due to strong currents, which can reach over 4 knots and sometimes include down-currents. Visibility is usually excellent, often exceeding 30m. While some sites are challenging, there are protected bays suitable for novice divers and snorkelers. Water temperatures can vary significantly due to upwellings.
A daily fun dive trip typically includes 2 dives in different locations, with a potential for a 3rd dive in the afternoon depending on tide conditions and a minimum of 2 guests.
