The prerequisites for the TDI Instructor course include being at least 18 years old, a certified diver for the program you wish to teach, proof of 100 logged dives in various environments and depths, proof of a minimum number of dives or hours underwater depending on the specific course, certification as an SDI Instructor or equivalent, a current CPR and first aid certification, and a current medical examination signed by a licensed physician for diving. You also need to possess the minimum instructional equipment as defined in the leadership standards.

The SDI Rescue Diver course is designed to develop the knowledge and skills to effectively perform diver rescues, assist in emergencies, and administer necessary first aid. It covers accident prevention, stress management, lifesaving techniques, self-rescue, buddy rescues, search patterns, and accident scene management. It also includes practical skills like assisting divers with breathing difficulties, transporting unconscious divers, and administering first aid.

The TDI Nitrox course provides a strong background in nitrox properties, including detailed examination of EAD, oxygen toxicity, and exposure limits, with mathematical formulas. The SDI Computer Nitrox course offers the same benefits of nitrox diving but relies on the dive computer to handle all calculations, making it a potentially less daunting option for those who prefer not to deal with complex math.

The SDI Divemaster course requires demonstrating skills such as an 800-meter swim with mask, snorkel, and fins in under 17 minutes, a 400-meter swim on the surface in under 10 minutes, and various scuba skills including assisting another diver, demonstrating a rescue scenario, performing underwater skills with and without a mask, and bringing an unconscious diver to the surface and transporting them.

ERDI (Emergency Response Diving International) training focuses on Public Safety Diving (PSD) techniques for professionals like police and fire departments. Courses cover search and rescue in various submerged environments, team management, and are compliant with OSHA and NFPA guidelines. Training levels include Awareness, Operations, and Technician, preparing divers for challenging situations like swift water and black water.
