Descripción del Curso

The SSI Science of Diving specialty course at Amphibio provides a deep dive into the physics, physiology, decompression theory, aquatic environment, and scuba equipment. This program is designed to build a robust theoretical understanding for divers, often serving as a prerequisite for SSI Professional level programs and certain Extended Range courses. Upon successful completion, participants earn an SSI specialty certification, enhancing their knowledge base without requiring an open water check-out dive. This specialty also counts towards the Advanced Open Water Diver certification, making it an accessible yet highly valuable addition to any diver's training portfolio.

This course meticulously explores the fundamental scientific principles that govern underwater exploration. You will gain insights into the physics of diving, understanding how pressure and gas laws affect your body and equipment. The physiology section explains the human body's responses to the underwater environment, while decompression theory clarifies the complexities of safe ascent profiles. Furthermore, the curriculum covers the characteristics of the aquatic environment and the intricate workings of a complete dive system, equipping you with a comprehensive scientific foundation.

Amphibio's Science of Diving specialty is particularly beneficial for those aspiring to advance their diving careers or pursue technical diving certifications. By mastering these scientific principles, divers can significantly enhance their safety, improve their efficiency underwater, and develop a more profound appreciation for the marine world. This theoretical knowledge underpins safer and more enjoyable diving experiences, preparing students for more advanced training and complex dive planning.

The curriculum is structured to provide a thorough theoretical grounding. While no open water dives are required for this specific specialty, its content is crucial for understanding the 'why' behind many diving practices. This makes it an ideal preparatory course for individuals aiming for higher levels of diver training or professional development within the SSI framework. Amphibio ensures that this foundational knowledge is presented clearly and effectively, empowering divers with scientific literacy.
