Descripción del Curso
FS Dive Coach offers a specialized Sidemount course, focusing on a configuration they personally utilize and endorse for its inherent efficiency and adaptability. This approach moves beyond mere training, aiming for students to adopt a diving style characterized by its clean, modular setup, providing exceptional equipment control even in tight underwater spaces. The hydrodynamic advantages of sidemount are significant, enhancing buoyancy control and streamlining the diver's profile, which proves invaluable for gas sharing in emergencies and for optimizing performance across both recreational and technical diving applications. The course is structured over three intensive days, blending theoretical knowledge with extensive practical application.
Training is conducted using specific Poseidon regulator sets, ensuring students gain hands-on experience with high-quality, purpose-built equipment tailored for sidemount configurations. The curriculum delves into the foundational philosophy of technical diving, emphasizing mental preparedness, precise gas management, and effective underwater communication. Students will explore the historical development of sidemount, various equipment configurations, and a detailed analysis of its advantages and potential disadvantages. This comprehensive instruction aims to equip divers with the skills and understanding to maximize their quality of diving and comfort.
Practical components of the course include detailed configuration workshops where students learn to assemble and manage their sidemount rig on land. This is followed by multiple open water dives designed to hone essential skills. Key areas of focus include mastering specific finning techniques for efficient propulsion, practicing Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) deployment, executing controlled ascents, and refining navigation skills. The course ensures a minimum of 240 minutes of in-water practice, providing ample opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real diving scenarios.
To enroll in this specialty course, divers must be at least 12 years old and possess parental authorization if under 18. A prerequisite certification of RAID Open Water 20, or an equivalent from another recognized agency, is required. Participants also need a current Diver Medical Statement and valid diving and accident insurance. The course fee of €599 plus VAT covers access to RAID E-Learning materials, the minimum 240 minutes of in-water practice, and the rental of all essential sidemount equipment, including the harness, wing system, regulators, and cylinders. Certification fees and personal expenses such as accommodation and meals are not included in the course price.
