Divemaster

The PADI Divemaster programme at Big Fish Tenerife runs over approximately two months and includes a minimum of 60 logged dives. It's the first professional-level certification in the PADI system — qualifying holders to lead certified divers underwater, assist instructors during courses, and work commercially as dive guides. Big Fish holds PADI 5-Star IDC status, meaning it regularly trains candidates at Divemaster level and above.

Candidates spend the two months working alongside the centre's instructors on live course groups and recreational dive days. This gives genuine exposure to real teaching situations rather than simulated ones — managing beginner groups on the Valiant DR 750, handling equipment before and after dives, assisting on OWD and AOWD confined water sessions, and guiding certified divers across the full nine-site rotation from 6m to 38m. The 60-dive minimum builds up progressively across all terrain the centre works.

The team that candidates work with includes Luca (5,000+ dives, recreational and technical), Luli (specialised in beginners and kids programmes), Greg (methodical safety standards from a military background), and Alberto (equipment maintenance and dive leadership). The centre's daily operation covers boat dives, shore dives, children's sessions, beginner programmes, and advanced courses — the variety across a two-month placement is broad.

Instruction and daily operations run in English, German, Spanish, and Polish. Pricing is available on request and not listed publicly. Prerequisites are a valid PADI Rescue Diver certification, a minimum of 40 logged dives before starting, and a current medical fitness statement. Candidates interested in continuing to PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor after completing Divemaster can discuss IDC scheduling directly with the centre, given its 5-Star IDC status.
