Basic Diver SSI

The Basic Diver SSI programme at Brothers Diving is the two-dive version of the introductory experience, running approximately six hours. No certification is issued, but completion of this programme counts towards the SSI Open Water Diver course if you decide to continue, which makes it a smarter entry point than a single Try Scuba dive if you think diving might stick.

Like the Try Scuba, the session begins at the Brothers Diving centre with hands-on equipment training and a safety briefing before heading out to one of the three standard introductory sites — Playa de Amadores, Tufia, or Risco Verde — in the centre's transport van. The site is confirmed on the day. Depth on these dives goes up to 12 metres, a step above the Try Scuba limit.

The format across the six hours is relaxed and unhurried. Two ocean dives with an instructor alongside — the same 2:1 ratio as the Try Scuba — plus the equipment fitting and briefing sessions. Gear is the same premium-quality kit used across all Brothers Diving programmes: Fourth Element and Scubapro wetsuits, Cressi masks, Tecline fins, Mares BCDs.

At the end, participants receive a digital recognition card from SSI, which serves as a useful record if they decide to progress to the Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver courses later. Price includes equipment, insurance, and transport from Maspalomas. Minimum age is 10; under-18s require signed parental consent.
