The PADI Diver Propulsion Vehicle Specialty at The Dive Shop is structured for efficient learning and practical application. The curriculum includes a 4-hour session combining classroom theory and pool skills development, followed by two essential open water training dives. Upon successful completion, you will be awarded a PADI PIC Card, officially certifying your new DPV specialty. This focused approach ensures you gain confidence and proficiency in operating a DPV safely and effectively, making your future dives more extensive and enjoyable.

During the practical training dives, you will hone critical DPV handling techniques, including tandem riding, and learn to navigate common operational challenges. Emphasis is placed on preventing rapid ascents or descents, avoiding motor entanglement, maintaining buddy contact, and managing battery power. The Dive Shop's instructors focus on building your competence in these areas, ensuring you can utilize the DPV as a reliable tool for exploration. This specialty is a fantastic way to see more of the underwater world with less effort and more fun.

To enroll in the PADI Diver Propulsion Vehicle Specialty, you must hold a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver certification or an equivalent entry-level qualification, with a minimum age of 12 years. The course fee is $312 USD, covering all classroom, pool, and open water instruction, as well as your certification card. Please note that any associated certification trip fees are payable at the time of the trip and are not included in the initial course cost. The Dive Shop also offers a Discover DPV experience, which includes a pool session for those wanting a brief introduction before committing to the full specialty.
