Deep Diver

The PADI Deep Dive Specialty course at Island Diving Center in Roatán allows certified divers to extend their depth limits safely. This specialty training focuses on the knowledge and skills required to plan and execute dives to a maximum depth of 40 meters (130 feet). You will learn about deep dive planning, equipment considerations, recognizing and managing nitrogen narcosis, and emergency procedures specific to deeper environments. The course typically involves two open water dives conducted at local Roatán dive sites known for their deeper walls and coral formations, providing a real-world context for applying your new skills. Island Diving Center, a PADI-affiliated facility, ensures all training adheres to PADI standards, leading to your Deep Diver certification.

Roatán offers excellent conditions for deep diving, with generally good visibility that can exceed 30 meters (100 feet) on clear days, allowing for comfortable exploration of deeper reefs and wrecks. While water temperatures remain warm year-round, typically ranging from 26-29°C (79-84°F), understanding how depth affects buoyancy and gas consumption is crucial. The marine life encountered at these depths can include larger pelagic species and unique reef inhabitants adapted to the deeper environment. Island Diving Center provides instruction in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese, ensuring a comfortable learning experience for international divers.
