Apnée FFESSM

Freediving sits alongside scuba as a full discipline within the club, not a secondary offering. The team counts four coaches at MEF1 and IE2 levels, including a former vice-champion de France at –95 m in free immersion. That depth benchmark signals a genuinely competitive background in the coaching staff.

Training runs through the same Thursday evening pool sessions at Centre Nautique André SOUSI, in dedicated freediving lanes. Additional depth sessions happen at the 20 m fosse in Meyzieu and at Nemo 33. Open water progression takes place at the Chamagnieu quarry, at Lac du Bourget/Chindrieux, and in the sea during club outings.

The FFESSM freediving brevets are validated progressively as divers advance through the programme — pool, then inland open water, then sea. Competitive events are also on the calendar: the club participated in the Interapnée Drôme Ardèche in April 2026 and has a RIFA (modules 4 to 7) scheduled in May.

Coaches for apnée are Jérémie, Fred and Raphy (MEF1, responsible for freediving). The breadth of venues and the competition programme make this one of the more complete freediving tracks available in a Lyon-area club.
