Open Water Diver

The PADI Open Water Diver certification is your gateway to exploring the underwater world, and El Duque Adventures in La Paz offers this foundational course. You will learn to dive independently to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet), a standard for recreational diving worldwide. This program is meticulously designed to build your confidence and competence through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skill development.

Your training begins with classroom sessions covering essential dive theory, equipment familiarization, and crucial safety procedures. These sessions are often integrated with the experience of being on a boat, enhancing the learning environment. You'll then progress to confined water sessions where you will master fundamental skills such as mask clearing, regulator recovery, and buoyancy control, preparing you for the open water dives. The Sea of Cortez provides a stunning backdrop for these practical applications.

Open water dives are conducted at various sites around La Paz, selected for their suitability for new divers and their abundant marine biodiversity. Under the direct supervision of your PADI Instructors, Norman and Cat, you will practice your newly acquired skills in real dive conditions. The diverse underwater environments of the Sea of Cortez, from vibrant reefs to encounters with playful sea lions, offer a rich introduction to marine life. Upon successful completion, you will be awarded your PADI Open Water Diver certification, recognized globally.
