The SSI Extended Range (XR) Open-Circuit Instructor course at Diving Canarias is the highest-priced professional programme on their list at €1,350 including IGIC, which reflects the complexity involved. This certifies you to teach technical open-circuit diving under the SSI XR framework — a different category from recreational instruction.

Diving Canarias runs technical diving to 100 metres, which puts the centre in a position where XR instructor training takes place in a facility that actually uses the depth ranges involved. That's relevant: an instructor trained here has access to real technical dive sites rather than working exclusively in pool or shallow confined water.

The centre stocks technical equipment including Divesoft He/O2 analysers for trimix work, and offers air fills to 300 bar — infrastructure that supports genuine technical operations. For an XR instructor candidate, having the gas handling and analysis equipment in-house simplifies the logistics of training dives.

SSI's XR framework covers multiple technical disciplines. Diving Canarias also offers the XR Sidemount Instructor (€850) and XR Rebreather Instructor (€850) courses separately, meaning an instructor can build out a full technical teaching portfolio within the same centre.
