The SSI Deep Diving Specialty course at Blue Bay Diving Centre is meticulously designed to equip certified divers with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely explore beyond the standard recreational depth limits. This program focuses on extending your diving capabilities, typically to depths of up to 40 meters (130 feet), allowing you to experience deeper reefs, walls, and wrecks. You will gain a thorough understanding of the physiological effects of deep diving, including nitrogen narcosis and decompression sickness, and learn effective management strategies. The curriculum emphasizes conservative dive planning, precise gas management, appropriate equipment considerations, and emergency procedures, ensuring a safe and confident approach to deeper environments.
This specialty is ideal for divers seeking to unlock new underwater realms and explore more challenging dive sites that lie beyond the usual 18-meter (60 feet) mark. It builds upon your existing diving foundation, requiring a solid grasp of fundamental principles and proficient buoyancy control. The course aims to foster competence and confidence in planning and executing deeper dives, preparing you for the unique marine life and geological formations often found at greater depths. Navigating these environments effectively and understanding their specific characteristics are key components of this advanced training.
Blue Bay Diving Centre offers this SSI specialty, leveraging its expertise in diver education. As a center certified by SSI, CMAS, PADI, SDI, and TDI, they provide a high standard of training. The course is conducted in English, catering to an international clientele. While specific details on dive site locations for the practical sessions are not provided, the curriculum is structured to cover essential deep diving scenarios. The training ensures you are well-prepared to appreciate the deeper sections of reefs and walls, and potentially engage in deep wreck diving with the proper understanding and safety protocols.
To enroll in the SSI Deep Diving Specialty, you must hold a relevant certification, typically an Open Water Diver or equivalent, with a minimum depth certification of 18 meters (60 feet). A solid understanding of basic diving theory and good physical condition are prerequisites. The course involves theoretical knowledge development and practical open water dives. While specific equipment requirements are detailed upon booking, participants are expected to have or rent standard scuba gear. Completing this course is a significant step for divers looking to expand their horizons and safely access a wider range of dive sites.
