The PADI Open Water Diver certification from Ocean Turtle Tropical is your passport to exploring over 70 percent of our planet's underwater world. This foundational course, recognized globally, is structured for flexibility, dividing learning into theory and pool sessions (Part A) followed by open water application (Part B). You will gain essential scuba diving knowledge and terminology, mastering fundamental skills in a controlled pool environment before applying them during four supervised open water dives. The certification allows you to dive with a buddy anywhere in the world, emphasizing responsible diving practices and ocean protection.

Part A begins with PADI eLearning, allowing self-paced study of diving principles and terminology, typically taking 5-10 hours. This is followed by an orientation at the dive center, equipment fitting with the latest gear, and practical skill development in the pool until comfort is achieved, usually completed in one day. The open water training, Part B, spans two days at a dedicated dive site. Here, you will practice your newly acquired skills in a real underwater environment, with dives typically reaching depths around 12 meters and a maximum of 18 meters. Throughout the course, you'll learn buoyancy control, marine life respect, and how to manage common diving scenarios.

Ocean Turtle Tropical offers this PADI certification, a globally respected agency. The local waters, with an average sea temperature of 18.6°C, provide a comfortable environment for learning. While specific monthly air temperatures vary from 13.3°C in December to 28.7°C in July, the focus remains on building confident and capable divers. The course structure ensures a gradual progression, building from basic skills to confident exploration within the 18-meter limit.

To begin your PADI Open Water Diver journey, you must be able to swim 200 meters without aids or tread water for 10 minutes, be medically fit for diving, and be at least 10 years old. While basic scuba gear is provided, students are required to supply their own mask and snorkel. Upon successful completion, you'll be ready to pursue further adventures, such as the Advanced Open Water course or a specialized Drysuit Course, unlocking deeper and more diverse diving experiences.
