Instructor Development Course

The curriculum covers essential instructional techniques, comprehensive risk management, and the specific requirements for conducting SSI training programs, ranging from Discover Scuba Diving experiences to the Divemaster certification.

As an SSI Instructor Training Center (ITC), Sea Lions Dive Center provides a complete instructor development program. This includes the Instructor Training Course (ITC), the Instructor Evaluation (IE), and your initial SSI membership. Furthermore, the program bundles several valuable specialty instructor certifications, enhancing your teaching capabilities. These include certifications for Perfect Buoyancy, Enriched Air Nitrox, Diver Stress & Rescue, and Dive Guide, allowing you to offer a broader range of SSI courses to your future students.

To qualify for this demanding yet rewarding program, candidates must meet specific prerequisites. You need to be at least 18 years old and hold a current SSI Divemaster certification or an equivalent rating. Additionally, valid First Aid, CPR, AED, and Oxygen certifications, all obtained within the last two years, are mandatory. A certification in Enriched Air Nitrox (up to 40%) is also required, along with a logbook demonstrating at least 100 recorded dives. Finally, a medical certificate signed by a physician, dated less than one year prior to the course, is essential for participation.
