ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR

The Assistant Instructor internship is the last step before full instructor qualification in the SSI system. Like the Divemaster, it runs in two phases: a structured 7-day block covering how to lead courses with students and the basics of teaching theory, followed by an open-ended practical phase. Students average one month total here as well.

Teaching rights at this level expand considerably: Try Scuba, Scuba Ranger (children from 8 years), Perfect Balancing specialization, course assistance, participation in the Open Water Diver course, and ecology programmes. The children's programme — Scuba Ranger from age 8 — is explicitly listed, making this qualification relevant for anyone planning to work in family-oriented centres.

Entry requires Divemaster, Diver Stress & Rescue, 60 logged dives, and certifications in Deep Diving Specialisation, Navigation, or Cavern diving. Minimum age 18.

The internship includes the same accommodation option as the Divemaster — the hostel above the diving base in Los Cristianos. At €1000, it's the highest-priced programme in the Ocean Dreams catalogue.
