The SSI Deep and Decompression specialty at Merak Diving costs 300€ and covers diving beyond the standard recreational limits, including decompression stop procedures. This is the logical prerequisite for the deeper wrecks in the Merak programme.

The Junker 88 at 46 m and the Santa Clara at the same depth are both listed as expert-only sites. The Malakoff wreck sits at 35–38 m. Having a deep specialty and decompression certification changes which sites you can access on the Merak boat. Menorca's generally good visibility — repeatedly highlighted across the site's dive descriptions — makes deep dives here more manageable in terms of orientation and navigation.

The course includes both theory and in-water training. A valid Advanced Open Water certification (or SSI equivalent) is the typical prerequisite for deep specialty training. Merak Diving's ITC status means the instructor delivering this course has advanced teaching credentials.
