Basic Diver

The Basic Diver programme is the natural step up from a baptism dive and the first certification Merak Diving issues under the SSI system. It covers two boat dives and a short theory session — enough to earn an entry-level SSI card and reach 12 m with a professional.

The first water session is structured like a baptism dive: shallow, controlled, focused on equipment and basic skills. The second session goes deeper, to the 12 m limit, and introduces a broader range of diving techniques. Both take place from the boat, most likely at the protected sites near Mahón that the instructors use for all introductory work — sand bottom, calm conditions, manageable fauna.

At 160€ for the full programme, it sits between a one-off baptism and a full Open Water course in both price and commitment. Minimum age is 8. No equipment to bring — towel and swimwear are sufficient.
