Enriched Air Nitrox

The SSI Enriched Air Nitrox specialty at Brothers Diving is worth doing if you plan to run multiple dives in a day, which is the norm in Gran Canaria. Nitrox reduces nitrogen absorption compared to standard air, extending bottom time and leaving you less fatigued by the afternoon — a practical difference on any multi-dive trip.

Brothers Diving runs its own Coltri compressors and fills nitrox on-site up to 32%, so certified Nitrox divers have access to the fills directly at the centre. The certification obtained here is valid for life with no expiry date, according to the centre.

The course follows SSI's standard Enriched Air Nitrox specialty structure: theory covering the physiology, benefits, and planning considerations for diving with higher oxygen mixes, followed by the practical application on dives. Gran Canaria's coastal sites provide the open water component.

This specialty pairs naturally with the Deep Diving and Perfect Buoyancy programs also offered at Brothers Diving, since Nitrox becomes particularly useful when pushing toward the 30–40 metre depth range the Deep Diving specialty covers.
