Instructor Development Course

The SSI Open Water Instructor course at Diving Canarias certifies you to teach and certify students at any SSI school, centre or resort worldwide. The price is €850 including IGIC. Once qualified, you are authorised to run the full SSI recreational curriculum independently.

Training runs in the Bahía de Radazul, a bay that operates 365 days a year due to its natural shelter from Atlantic swells and winds. The year-round operability matters for instructor training: you're not rushing sessions around seasonal conditions, and you get to train in a genuinely active centre rather than a low-volume setup.

The centre's position — 30 metres from the water, offering both shore and boat dives — means you train in the same environment where you'll eventually work if you stay in Tenerife or move to a similar operation. The SSI framework is global, so the certification is valid internationally, but the practical skills come from real conditions in Radazul.

Diving Canarias extends its professional training into extended-range and technical instruction, so instructors who want to go further can continue at the same facility into XR Instructor (€1,350) or XR Rebreather Instructor (€850) without changing centres.
