Open Water Diver

The PADI Open Water Diver course at Divinguru is the world's most popular scuba certification, providing the foundational skills and knowledge needed to dive independently. This comprehensive course is structured into three main phases: knowledge development, confined water dives, and open water dives. Participants learn about dive planning, equipment, underwater communication, and safety procedures.

Knowledge development can be completed through e-learning or traditional classroom sessions. This phase covers essential theory, including dive physics, physiology, and environmental awareness. Following this, confined water dives are conducted in a pool or calm, shallow bay. Here, students practice fundamental scuba skills under the direct supervision of a PADI instructor, mastering techniques like mask clearing, regulator recovery, and buoyancy control.

The course culminates in four open water dives conducted at local dive sites. Divinguru utilizes its prime locations in Nilaveli, Trincomalee, or Unawatuna to provide diverse underwater environments for these dives. Students apply the skills learned in confined water to real diving scenarios, exploring reefs and observing marine life up to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet).

Upon successful completion, graduates receive a PADI Open Water Diver certification card, recognized globally. This allows them to dive with a buddy to a depth of 18 meters anywhere in the world.
