Rescue Diver

The PADI Rescue Diver course at The Dive Shop is designed to be both challenging and highly rewarding, significantly expanding a diver's knowledge and practical experience. This advanced certification course shifts the primary focus from self-preservation to the safety and well-being of fellow divers, equipping you with the skills to anticipate, prevent, and manage potential dive emergencies. Many participants attest that it is the most valuable course they have undertaken, largely due to its hands-on, confidence-building nature.

The curriculum meticulously prepares you to handle a wide spectrum of dive emergencies, ranging from minor incidents to major crises, employing diverse and effective techniques. You will learn to develop comprehensive emergency assistance plans, master the use of emergency oxygen equipment, and refine crucial self-rescue skills. Key topics include managing diver stress and preventing accidents, dive first aid protocols, emergency management strategies and equipment utilization, various assist techniques (both in-water and from the surface), responding to panicked divers, addressing underwater problems, implementing missing diver procedures, safely surfacing an unconscious diver, performing in-water artificial respiration, executing safe egress from the water, providing first aid for pressure-related injuries, and managing complex dive accident scenarios, including site evacuation planning.

To enroll in this vital course, participants must be at least 12 years old. While you can begin the course in conjunction with your PADI Advanced Open Water Course, certification as an Advanced Open Water Diver or an equivalent rating is mandatory before commencing open water training sessions. Furthermore, successful completion of a sanctioned CPR and First Aid program, such as Emergency First Response (EFR), within the last 12 months is a prerequisite. The course package includes PADI Rescue Diver eLearning, a crew pack, a pocket mask, an O2 non-rebreather mask, the O2 Provider manual, an O2 provider at-a-glance card, academic classroom sessions, a dedicated pool session, and comprehensive open water instruction guided by a PADI Rescue Instructor.

Upon successful completion of the PADI Rescue Diver course, you will receive PADI RESCUE certification and PADI Emergency O2 Provider certification. The Dive Shop also proudly provides a commemorative Rescue Diver T-Shirt to all graduates. The course schedule includes specific class dates for Spring and Summer, with associated trips planned for open water portions at Lake Pleasant or San Carlos, Mexico. It is important to note that the travel costs for the trip to San Carlos or Lake Pleasant are not included in the overall course fee. This course represents a critical step for any diver serious about enhancing their safety awareness and preparedness in all diving activities.
