Cursusbeschrijving
Woodbridge SCUBA's Deep Diver specialty course is designed for certified Open Water divers seeking to safely extend their depth range. This program focuses on the physiological and psychological aspects of diving beyond 18 meters (60 feet), up to a maximum of 40 meters (130 feet). You will learn crucial techniques for managing gas consumption, understanding nitrogen narcosis, and the procedures for planning and executing deeper dives. The curriculum emphasizes risk mitigation and the importance of proper dive planning for these advanced environments.
The course covers essential equipment considerations for deep diving, including the use of dive computers and potentially redundant air sources. Participants will gain practical knowledge on calculating gas requirements, ascent rates, and the necessity of safety stops and potential decompression procedures. The training at Woodbridge SCUBA aims to build confidence and competence in handling the challenges associated with diving at greater depths. This specialty is a vital step for divers interested in exploring deeper reefs, wrecks, or other underwater formations.
Scheduled for evening sessions on Thursdays throughout April, May, and June 2026, these classes are conveniently held at the Woodbridge Scuba facility. This timing allows participants to balance their professional lives with advanced dive training. The curriculum is structured to provide a thorough understanding of deep diving principles, ensuring that all students are well-prepared for their deeper explorations. The focus is on responsible diving practices and maximizing safety margins.
By completing the Deep Diver specialty, you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to plan and execute dives to depths between 18 and 40 meters (60 to 130 feet). This certification is often a prerequisite for further technical diving courses and opens up a wider array of dive sites previously inaccessible. Woodbridge SCUBA provides this training under certifications from SDI, SSI, and TDI, offering recognized standards in diver education. The course requires a solid foundation in Open Water diving skills and a good understanding of dive planning.
