What people ask before booking
Virtually anyone who is 8 years or older, in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can start their PADI journey. For the Open Water course, you must be able to float/tread water for 10 minutes and swim at least 200m. If you answer 'Yes' to any medical questions on the PADI Forms, a note from your GP or a professional dive medic is required.
Part A includes online theory, heated pool training sessions with a PADI Instructor, scuba equipment rental, a logbook, and PADI certification e-card processing. Part B includes 4 open water dives over 2 days with an instructor and assistant, scuba equipment rental, and exclusive use of their lake. The lake owner charges a separate daily entry fee and a tank refill charge.
Oyster Diving offers PADI courses in multiple locations across London and the South East, including Soho Central London, North London/Hertfordshire, Surrey & Berkshire, South East London & Kent, Brighton & Hove, and Oxfordshire. Open water training dives primarily take place at Mercers Park.
Children aged 8 and above can participate in the PADI Bubblemaker and Seal Team programs. For the PADI Discover Scuba or Junior Open Water course, the minimum age is 10 years old. A minimum of 3 children is required for these courses to run.
All scuba equipment is included in the price of your course, including a dive mask, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device, snorkel, gauges, and tank. While not mandatory, it is recommended to have your own mask and snorkel.
Courses require full payment in advance and are non-refundable once booked. Cancellations or rearrangements require at least two weeks' notice. If more than two weeks' notice is given, the course can be rescheduled subject to availability. Cancellations due to illness require a doctor's letter and incur a £25 administration charge. Failure to arrive within 20 minutes of the start time will result in cancellation.
