The standard baptism at Randomarine is a single boat dive lasting around 20 minutes underwater, guided throughout by Ludovic Gallas. The site is chosen on the day based on conditions around Hyères and its islands — Porquerolles, Giens or Port-Cros depending on the weather window. You're never in a group of strangers jostling for the instructor's attention: the four-diver maximum means the whole outing is calm and unhurried. The minimum age is 8 years. No medical certificate is needed — just a signed information form before the dive. All equipment is provided and included in the 90€ price: wetsuit, BCD, regulator, fins, mask. The instructor holds a DEJEPS state diploma and the operation is insured through AXA Lafont. A pool option exists at 60€ per person (plus 20€ per additional participant), which suits families or anyone who prefers a first contact with the equipment in calmer water before heading out to sea. Both formats deliver the same supervised introduction with the same gear. Certification under ANMP or FFESSM is not the goal here — this is pure discovery. If you want to carry on after the baptism, the Pack Découverte (three dives including this one) or the Niveau 1 course are the natural next steps from the same base.
Baptême en recycleur
The rebreather baptism runs June through September only, which narrows the window but also means conditions around Hyères and the Îles d'Or are at their best. You spend 45 minutes underwater on a closed-circuit rebreather, preceded by a one-hour briefing on the unit. The pitch is silence: no bubble stream, quieter approach to the marine life. This is not for beginners. Entry requires a minimum Level 2 (or equivalent), a minimum age of 18, and a CACI medical certificate from a doctor. The 250€ price includes all equipment — the rebreather unit, wetsuit, and ancillary gear — and the instruction by DEJEPS-certified Ludovic Gallas. Operationally, the same small-group maximum applies. Boat-based departure to a site chosen on the day around Hyères and the islands. For certified divers curious about rebreather technology without committing to a full course, this is a concrete 45-minute introduction in open water rather than a pool demo. Optional FFESSM licence (50€ supplement) applies if you want the dive logged under FFESSM. ANMP holders have no additional licence fee. Carnet and certification card available at extra cost if needed.
Pack découverte
Three boat dives spread across three half-days, all around Hyères and the Îles d'Or. The sequence starts with a classic one-to-one baptism with the instructor, then moves to a technical dive and an exploration dive at sea, both in groups of up to four students maximum. The three dives stay within 0 to 6 metres depth, making it accessible from 8 years old. There's an optional pathway here worth knowing: the pack can include a free PE12 training component (Plongeur Encadré à 12m), which carries a bridge toward Niveau 1 certification. Minimum age for the PE12 option is 14 years. Nothing extra to pay — it's included if you want it. All equipment is included: wetsuit, BCD, regulator, fins, mask. DEJEPS instructor throughout. The 300€ covers the three dives and equipment. If you decide to continue toward Niveau 1 after the pack, the progression is straightforward from the same base. No medical certificate is required for the pack itself — just the standard information form. The format works well for groups where some members are absolute beginners and others have done a baptism before: the three-dive structure gives everyone time to settle at their own pace.
NIVEAU 1 (PE20)
The Niveau 4 at Randomarine qualifies you to lead a group of one to four divers to 40 metres as Guide de Palanquée. The 790€ package covers the full training-and-assessment sequence: a preparatory stage of eight technical dives plus four hours of theoretical review (500€), and then the two-day examination including two dives (190€). Ten dives total. Entry requirements are serious: Niveau 3, a minimum of 60 logged dives (at least 20 in the 40-metre range), a valid dive rescue certificate (brevet de secourisme en plongée), a personal dive computer with demonstrated knowledge of its use, and a medical certificate from a sports doctor or fédéral doctor. Minimum age 18. Optional extras are available separately: a four-day, 32-hour theoretical preparation stage for 400€, and individual tutoring at 50€ per hour on specific subjects. These sit outside the 790€ base package. Ludo runs the course himself under his DEJEPS state diploma. For anyone already at N3 level and looking to formalise a leadership role in diving around Hyères and the Îles d'Or, this is the course that puts you in front of a group rather than following the instructor.
Niveau 1 (PE20)
The Niveau 1 (PE20) course at Randomarine covers five boat dives around Hyères and the Îles d'Or, qualifying the diver to descend to 20 metres under instructor supervision. Ludovic Gallas holds a DEJEPS state diploma and runs groups of a maximum four divers, which means the five dives aren't spread thin across a large class. Minimum age is 12 years. Entry requires either a prior baptism or demonstrated comfort in the water with fins, mask and snorkel. A CACI medical certificate from a doctor is required before the course starts. The 490€ price includes all five dives, full equipment, liability insurance through AXA Lafont, a dive log and the ANMP Niveau 1 certification card. Optional FFESSM certification is available with a 50€ licence surcharge. Individual dive insurance through AXA Lafont is available on request but not compulsory. Sites are chosen on the day based on conditions — Porquerolles, Giens or Port-Cros. Working in the protected bays and varied terrain around the Îles d'Or gives the Niveau 1 student a range of environments across the five dives rather than the same site repeated five times.
Niveau 2 (PA20 + PE40)
Eight dives from 20 to 60 metres, plus the RIFAP first-aid module for divers — that's what's included in the Niveau 3 at Randomarine. The combined package means you finish the course with both the N3 autonomous certification and a recognised dive rescue qualification. No separate first-aid course to organise elsewhere. Entry requires Niveau 2, a minimum of 40 logged dives (at least 10 in the 40-metre range), a personal dive computer and familiarity with its use, and a sports medicine or fédéral doctor's medical certificate. Minimum age 18. The sites off Hyères and the Îles d'Or include water deep enough to cover the full depth range of the course, which runs progressively from the shallower sections up to 60 metres. Ludo holds the DEJEPS E4 qualification — the instructor grade required to supervise dives at this depth. The 690€ covers all eight dives, full equipment, insurance and ANMP certification. FFESSM licence option available at 50€ extra. For divers already operating at N2 level looking to push toward deeper autonomous diving, the course here works within the same small-group framework. The RIFAP component is particularly useful for anyone who plans to dive regularly with a buddy in deep water — it's the rescue skills module that makes you genuinely useful in an emergency.
