The Scuba Diver certification allows you to dive up to 40 feet under the supervision of a certified guide, ideal for occasional divers or those with limited time. The Open Water Diver certification, typically taking two weekends, qualifies you to dive with a certified buddy and explore more independently.
The course includes the PADI Open Water eLearning code, Scuba Diver lifetime certification (40ft max depth), all scuba rental gear, classroom, pool and ocean sessions, and a ticket to Catalina Island or Anacapa Island. A digital logbook and app are also provided, along with student discounts on equipment purchases and invitations to tropical dive trips.
While scuba rental gear is included for the courses, you will need to purchase personal items such as a mask, snorkel, fins, boots, and gloves. Student discounts are offered on these items.
Prerequisites include water-safe swimming skills, basic snorkeling experience recommended, and being 12 years or older. For 10 and 11-year-olds, an additional trainer is required at an extra cost.
Local boat trips often go to Catalina or Anacapa Island, offering 3 island dives. Specific sites like Farnsworth Pinnacle/Wall/Kelp Dives are also destinations, with the exact location determined by the captain based on conditions.
