The baptême at Centre ISA is run off the Plage du Kador, which sits 50 metres from the centre's building. That proximity means no long transit with kit on — the briefing happens at the base, equipment is fitted there, and the walk to the entry point is short. The dive itself takes place over the artificial structure just offshore, a spot that's been colonised by a documented range of species including jewel anemones, European lobster, cuttlefish, conger eels, and grey seals on occasion. The format runs over a half-day: arrival and paperwork, equipment distribution and a run-through of what will happen underwater, then the immersion itself with one dedicated instructor per diver. After surfacing, there's time to change, rinse the equipment, and talk through the experience before the diploma is handed over. The ratio of one instructor to one diver throughout is what makes the experience work for all ages and confidence levels. Children from 8 years old are eligible. For minors, a responsible adult must be present on-site for the full session. All equipment — fins, mask, BCD, regulator, tank, weights — is provided and is Scubapro throughout. The price is a flat 75€ with no additional charges. About sixty species have been documented at the Kador site during baptême dives. The artificial structure gives first-timers immediate contact with fixed marine life and small fish at very shallow depth before any deeper exploration. It's a genuinely productive entry point that works both as training ground and as a real dive in its own right.

Stage Niveau 1

The Niveau 1 course at Centre ISA is the first formal certification step within the FFESSM framework, giving divers access to depths up to 20 metres under the supervision of an instructor or club-qualified guide. At Morgat, that means being able to access the full range of the centre's regular sites — the rocky bottom dives, the coves, and the dive sites in the Parc Naturel Marin d'Iroise — rather than staying in the shallows. Theory sessions take place in the classroom at the base, which is integrated into the building alongside the showers and changing rooms. Water sessions begin at the Plage du Kador, using the artificial structure as a shallow training environment before progressing to boat dives on the main sites aboard the ASTOA-II. The boat reaches sites in around 10 minutes from the port of Morgat and takes up to 20 divers, though Niveau 1 groups are structured as small-group formats requiring a minimum of 2 participants. All equipment for the Niveau 1 is provided — the centre stocks Scubapro fins, masks, BCDs, regulators, tanks, and weights. Tank fills are handled by the centre during the midday break on multi-dive days, with the compressor running at 36m³/h to 300 bars so cylinders are ready for the afternoon session. A medical certificate of non-contraindication to diving, dated within the past year, is required at registration — a general practitioner's certificate is sufficient for Niveau 1. The course is affiliated with both FFESSM and PADI. ISA has been running this course since 1981, which means the instructors are very familiar with the local conditions — the seasonal variations in visibility and weather on the Finistère coast — and how to structure training days around them. The Baie de Douarnenez is sheltered enough that most sites remain diveable throughout the April–November season.

Booked services are generally non-refundable and non-transferable in case of client cancellation or no-show. If bad weather prevents a dive from happening, a full refund is issued. Administrative impossibility (such as the COVID context) allows for rescheduling.

ISA runs training from Niveau 1 through Niveau 4, plus monitorat (instructor certification). Both FFESSM and PADI certifications are available.

The centre operates from April through November, for group bookings and individual dives alike.

Yes. Baptême dives and Niveau 1 stages are the two services available for online booking and gift voucher purchase directly on the centre's website.
