Cursos Disponíveis
10 cursosCurso Open Water Diver
The OWD at tauchmalab is run under either SDI or SSI — you decide which certification you want when you register. Both meet current ISO standards and are accepted worldwide, so the practical difference comes down to personal preference. SDI gives you the option of eLearning or a book-based study track; SSI uses eLearning only. Either way, the in-water progression follows the same structure: pool sessions in their Hannover facility, confined water work, and four open water dives to complete the certification. Scheduling is fully individual — no fixed cohort start dates. Once your registration is in, they work around your availability. All courses run in small groups as standard, so there's no premium tier here. The price of €425 covers rental gear (excluding mask, fins, snorkel), pool sessions, four open water dives, a digital logbook, dive insurance, and the digital certification on passing. Minimum age is 15, or 10 for the Junior OWD variant with parental consent. On completion, you're certified to dive to 18 m worldwide with a buddy of equivalent or higher certification. Study materials are charged separately.
Curso Advanced Open Water
The AOWD at tauchmalab consists of four specialty modules: Navigation and Deep Diving are mandatory, and you select two more from the specialty list they offer. The school covers a wide range of options — nitrox, night diving, drysuit, boat diving, ice diving, sidemount, rescue, and others — so there's real flexibility in how you build the certification. They recommend getting time in the water after your OWD before jumping into the AOWD. That's sensible advice for a school near Hannover, where open water practice opportunities are available but require more planning than a coastal centre. Course structure and scheduling follow the same individual-arrangement model as their other programmes. Contact the school for current pricing.
Enriched Air Nitrox
The Nitrox course at tauchmalab covers mixes from 22% to a maximum of 40% oxygen, with the focus on computer-based planning — how to programme a nitrox computer and apply it to real dive planning. It runs under SSI (Enriched Air Nitrox Diver) or SDI (Computer Nitrox Diver), both equivalent in content. For anyone planning a warm-water trip where nitrox is standard equipment, having this cert before you arrive makes logistics easier. The course is one of the more common add-ons here, which is why tauchmalab also packages it into their OWD combination courses. Minimum entry is a Junior OWD or equivalent. Contact the school for current pricing.
OWD & Nitrox Kombikurs
This is tauchmalab's standard entry course — the OWD and Nitrox Diver combined into a single programme. The logic is straightforward: if you're learning to dive, you may as well learn to use enriched air from the start rather than adding it later as a separate course and a separate fee. The OWD component follows the same structure as the standalone course: theory (eLearning with SDI or SSI), pool and confined water sessions, and four open water dives. The nitrox theory and dive planning is integrated into the programme. Like all courses at tauchmalab, start dates are arranged individually. You choose between SDI and SSI certification. On completion of the OWD you're cleared to dive to 18 m worldwide with a buddy; the nitrox certification allows you to plan dives using enriched air mixes once certified. At €475, the combined course costs €50 more than the OWD alone — a straightforward calculation if nitrox is something you plan to use on future trips. Study materials are separate. Inclusions match the standalone OWD: rental gear (minus mask, fins, snorkel), pool sessions, four open water dives, digital logbook, insurance, and digital certification.
Ferienkurs zum OWD & Nitrox Diver
The holiday-format version of the OWD and Nitrox combined course runs over four full days (plus two buffer days for weather or logistics), covering theory, confined water, open water, and the nitrox module in a concentrated block. Day one and two run 09:00–18:00 covering theory and the first confined water sessions. Days three and four shift to 08:00–18:00 and include the open water dives and nitrox curriculum. Two additional buffer days are scheduled to handle German weather, because a full-day outdoor dive session in northern Germany does occasionally get cancelled. This format suits people who want to complete the certification without spreading it across multiple weeks of evening sessions. All modules must be attended in full — partial attendance isn't accommodated given the compressed timeline. At €500, it's €25 more than the standard combined course. The inclusions are the same: rental gear (excluding mask, fins, snorkel), four open water dives, digital logbook, dive insurance, and digital certification. Study materials are extra. Minimum age and certification requirements are identical to the standard OWD.
Referral Diver
The Referral Diver course covers the theory and pool components of the OWD in Hannover, with the four open water dives deferred to a future trip abroad. It's a practical option if you want to start the process during winter months but plan to do your open water work somewhere warmer. On completion you hold a Referral certification, which allows you to dive in pool or confined water with a buddy of equivalent level. Once you complete the open water dives at a partner school — tauchmalab will help you find a suitable one — you receive the full OWD certification. Scheduling is individual, starts as soon as registration is received, and is available year-round. Courses run in small groups. Choice of SDI or SSI certification track. At €315, the course includes rental gear (excluding mask, fins, snorkel), pool and confined water sessions, dive insurance, and digital Referral certification. Study materials are extra. The OWD certification is issued after the open water dives are verified. Minimum age is 15 (10 for Junior with parental consent).
Try Scuba – Schnuppertauchen
The Try Scuba session at tauchmalab is where most people in the Hannover area first put a regulator in their mouth. It runs in their in-house pool, with a theory introduction followed by your first practical session underwater — supervised throughout by an experienced instructor. No prior experience is required, and all rental equipment is provided. You bring swimwear and the school handles the rest. The session costs from €50 per person, which includes rental gear and dive insurance. The minimum age is 10 years with parental consent. If you're unsure whether diving is for you before committing to a full OWD course, this is the logical first step. It won't certify you, but it gives you a clear answer about whether you want to go further. Private or group sessions on special dates can be arranged on request, and gift vouchers are also available for the session.
Bootstauchen / Boat Diver
The Boat Diver course (SDI or SSI) at tauchmalab is explicitly oriented towards dive travel preparation. The course covers entry and exit techniques, on-board procedures, and dive safari planning — practical knowledge that's less intuitive than it looks if you've only ever dived from shore. At €129, it includes theory, an exam, and two open water dives. If you book the course in connection with a tauchmalab dive trip, 10% is knocked off the course fee — a direct incentive to pair the training with the travel. Minimum entry is a Junior OWD. Study materials are extra.
Scuba Skills Update – Refresher
The Refresher at tauchmalab is open to any certified diver regardless of which agency certified them — OWD or higher, from any organisation. If you haven't been in the water for an extended period, this gets you back in shape before a trip. The scope is assessed case by case based on how long you've been out of the water and your prior experience. When registering, submit your certification and logbook so they can calibrate the session appropriately. At €79, it includes eLearning access, rental gear, one refresher dive, and a logbook entry confirming the session. It's the cheapest route back into active diving at tauchmalab, and the individual scheduling means it can be arranged around your departure date. The dive can be arranged on an individual basis after discussion with the school.
Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV)
The SDI DPV course teaches planning, organisation, technique, and hazard management for underwater scooter use. Overhead environment diving is explicitly excluded from this course — this is open-water DPV use only. The course includes theory on the specific DPV used, an exam, and two open water dives. tauchmalab notes that DPVs have particular relevance for divers with physical disabilities, which aligns with Phil's qualification in adaptive diving instruction. Minimum age is 18 (15 with written parental consent). Entry requires a certified Junior OWD or equivalent. Pricing is on application.
