Dive Master

The PADI Divemaster program at AlisioSub requires a minimum of three weeks on-site and is the entry point to the professional side of diving. The course develops high-level personal dive skills, the ability to plan and lead dives for certified groups, and the knowledge to assist instructors in courses. Certification enables work as a Divemaster at any PADI dive center worldwide and opens the path to the Instructor Development Course. With the center's boat and shore diving operation running daily across a catalog that includes complex sites like Cueva de las Gambas at 40m-plus, La Roncadera with drift conditions, and the Museo Atlántico as an official operator site, there is substantial real-world operational material for a Divemaster candidate to work with over three weeks. Entry requirements are a Rescue Diver certification (or equivalent), a minimum of 20 logged dives at the start of the program, and 60 logged dives before certification is processed. A current medical certificate, valid dive insurance, and a CPR and primary care first aid qualification from the last two years are also required. Minimum age is 18. The included package covers all study materials, course-specific equipment, instructor supervision, pool and open water practice sessions, and PADI certification processing.

Snorkel

The snorkeling excursion runs approximately two hours out of the AlisioSub base in Puerto del Carmen. After gearing up at the center, the group moves to the dive site, spending around 45 minutes in the water observing marine life. On return, there are showers at the center and a debrief. If transport from your hotel was arranged, the return is included. All equipment is provided: mask, tube, fins, and a wetsuit so participants can stay in the water without getting cold. Lanzarote's sea temperature sits around 20°C year-round, and the wetsuit is standard kit for any duration in the water. There is no age limit and no experience needed — the only requirement is that participants can swim. The excursion is run with an instructor present throughout, watching over the group's safety and wellbeing. The site description notes it as well-suited for families and groups of mixed experience levels. Playa del Jablillo, one of the sites the center covers, is a sheltered artificial bay with abundant marine life including salemas, seabream, wrasse, spider crabs, and rays — a compact ecosystem that works well for snorkelers staying in the shallower zones.

Bautizo Buceo

The Discover Scuba experience at AlisioSub runs three hours total, with 45 minutes of actual time underwater. The session begins with a briefing at the center where a professional instructor goes through the instructions needed to make the dive safely. Once kitted up, the group transfers to the dive site. Depth is kept between 5 and 8 meters — shallow enough to maintain natural light and visibility while still giving a real sense of the underwater environment. El Muellito and Playa Chica are sites the center uses for introductory dives; the maximum depth there is 12m and the guide specifically notes the site as ideal for first contacts with the equipment. The instructor is alongside throughout the entire dive, managing buoyancy and equipment for the participant. After surfacing, the group returns to the center, talks through the experience, and participants receive a commemorative diploma. Minimum age is 10 years. No previous diving experience is required — the only prerequisite is being able to swim.

Open Water Diver OWD

The PADI Open Water Diver at AlisioSub is structured in three phases. The knowledge development phase can be started via eLearning before arriving in Lanzarote, cutting down time at the center; alternatively, it runs as five theory modules on-site at the center in Puerto del Carmen with the instructor resolving questions on the key concepts and principles of autonomous diving. With eLearning, the whole course takes 2–3 days; with classroom theory, 3–4 days. Confined water sessions, rather than defaulting to a pool, are run in a sheltered cala on the coast when sea conditions allow. The center notes that Lanzarote's conditions make this possible most of the time, meaning the first contact with equipment happens in an actual marine environment — sand, ambient light, and real marine life rather than tiles and lane markers. The open water phase consists of four dives at different sites around Puerto del Carmen. With all instructors being locals who have been diving these waters for years, the site selection draws on detailed knowledge of where conditions suit the learning objectives at each stage. The course certifies to a maximum depth of 18m without a guide or instructor present, recognized worldwide with no expiry date. The included package covers study materials, instructor time, all four open water dives, full dive equipment, accident insurance, and processing of the PADI certification. A current medical certificate and two passport-size photos are required before starting.

Advanced Open Water Diver AOWD

The PADI Advanced Open Water at AlisioSub runs 2–3 days and consists of five adventure dives. Two are mandatory — deep diving and underwater navigation with a compass — and the remaining three are chosen from a wider menu that includes wreck diving, search and recovery, and underwater photography, among others. With a wreck catalog in Puerto del Carmen that includes up to six vessels accessible in a single dive, and sites like Richie's Place and Veril de Fariones available to Advanced-certified divers, there's no shortage of material for the optional adventure dives. Deep diving here means working toward the 30m certification limit — and with sites like La Catedral (32m) and Agujero Azul (35m) among the most popular on the island, having the Advanced card opens up the full Puerto del Carmen dive map. Navigation dives in these waters involve working around the variety of volcanic terrain, sand channels, and reef structure that characterizes the area. Photography is listed as one of the adventure dive options. The center dives sites with diverse photographic potential: the gorgonian fields at La Roncadera, the groupers and shrimp in the cave systems, and the Museo Atlántico's 300 sculptures at 14m. The package includes study materials, instructor time, all five open water dives, full dive equipment, accident insurance, and PADI certification processing. Minimum age is 12. The course is the prerequisite for the Rescue Diver program.

Aire Enriquecido NITROX

The PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) course at AlisioSub runs in a single day and covers diving with oxygen-enriched air up to 36%. The theory component goes through the advantages — extended bottom time, reduced surface intervals, and lower nitrogen loading — alongside the safety procedures specific to handling higher-oxygen mixtures, including equipment analysis and planning dives within Nitrox limits. The practical component includes two open water dives at sites around Puerto del Carmen, allowing students to apply the planning and analysis process with actual Nitrox fills. Given the depth range across the local dive sites — from the 12m shallows of El Muellito to the 40m-plus walls at Veril de Fariones — being Nitrox-certified meaningfully extends options on the more ambitious dives. The package includes all study materials, equipment specific to the course, the two open water dives, instructor time, and PADI certification processing. Minimum age is 16 and an existing Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent) is required.

Emergency First Response

The Emergency First Response course at AlisioSub runs in a single day and teaches primary and secondary care first aid — how to assist an injured person and manage situations that require basic emergency response. It is a prerequisite for the PADI Rescue Diver course and recommended by the center for anyone, diver or not. The practical sessions give participants hands-on time with the emergency response skills covered in the course. The included package covers study materials, instructor time, practice sessions, and certification processing. Minimum age is 12. No prior diving certification is required — the course is open to non-divers as well.

Details

Rescue Diver

The PADI Rescue Diver course at AlisioSub runs 3–5 days and covers problem prevention and emergency management in diving. The program trains participants to recognize stress and warning signs in other divers, respond to panicked or unresponsive divers at the surface and underwater, and manage a diving emergency from start to finish. It is one of the courses the center specifically highlights as both challenging and rewarding. The practical open water sessions take place in Lanzarote waters, putting the rescue scenarios in a real sea environment — not a controlled pool setting. The combination of shore and boat dive access from Puerto del Carmen means the exercises cover realistic conditions for the range of scenarios the course addresses. Prerequisites are an Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent) with a minimum of 20 logged dives, plus an Emergency First Response course or a current CPR and primary care first aid qualification from the last two years. Minimum age is 12. The package includes study materials, course-specific equipment, instructor time, open water practice sessions, and PADI certification processing.
