Sobre o Centro
Dive Soul, located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is a dive center specializing in training divers under PADI, SSI, and TDI standards. It offers a comprehensive range of courses, from Discover Scuba Diving for beginners to professional levels like Divemaster and specialized technical diving courses.
Dive Soul's facilities include lockers, a bar for post-dive relaxation, a swimming pool for initial training, and classrooms equipped for theoretical sessions. They also provide high-quality equipment rental, including personal dive computers and anti-fog masks, as well as air fills (including nitrox), and organize boat diving and night diving.
With a focus on personalized attention and small class sizes, Dive Soul ensures that each student receives individualized guidance and preparation to explore the underwater world with confidence and safety. Their team, led by experienced instructors such as Flávio Mayrink, is known for its patience, teaching skills, and dedication to their students' safe and effective learning.

2 cursosCurso Open Water Diver
The PADI Open Water Diver at Dive Soul runs across four days and is structured as a hybrid: the theory portion is completed online before any in-person session begins. That separation is deliberate — by the time students arrive at the pool in Barra da Tijuca, the knowledge review is already done and the day belongs entirely to gear and skills. There's no splitting attention between reading and diving; the pool session starts with equipment and stays there for a minimum of five hours. The pool in Barra da Tijuca is covered and heated. Flávio Mayrink's approach during the pool day is to stay until the skills are clean rather than move on when the clock says to. Students report in their reviews that exercises were repeated as many times as needed — regulator recovery, mask clearing, buoyancy control — until the motion became natural rather than deliberate. The safety net is always there: the pool allows standing at any point, which takes one variable off the table while learning to manage the rest. Days three and four are sea days at Ilha dos Papagaios, off the coast of Cabo Frio. Day three covers dives one and two, with roughly six hours on site. Day four covers dives three and four; the final dive is where students demonstrate autonomous diving capability under instructor supervision. Passing that dive closes the training requirement, and the PADI Open Water Diver certification is issued within 24 hours. Ilha dos Papagaios is the school's standard open water venue — the site is familiar ground for Flávio and the team. Each student gets their own dive computer for the sea sessions, not a shared instrument. Reading your own NDLs and depth from dive one builds the instrument habit from the start — it's not something bolted on later when you start diving independently. Anti-fog masks are also included. All other equipment is provided by Dive Soul throughout the course, so there's no gear purchase needed to get in the water. The goal described by the school is for the equipment to feel like a natural extension rather than a collection of things being managed. Minimum age is 10. Once certified, Open Water Diver graduates from Dive Soul receive priority access to the school's organized trips — including weekend outings to Angra dos Reis, where the group dives during the day and stays for meals and activities in the evening. The certification is internationally recognized and allows diving up to 18 metres with other certified divers anywhere in the world.
Curso Avançado de Mergulho
The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver at Dive Soul covers five adventure dives spread across three non-consecutive days: Deep Diving, Underwater Navigation, Search & Recovery, Night Diving, and DSMB deployment. The selection is not arbitrary — it targets the skills that matter most for diving with more autonomy in real conditions rather than stacking certifications for their own sake. The course follows the same hybrid format as the Open Water: theory and knowledge review are done online at home, and in-person days are reserved for drills and water time. Day one is the theory and knowledge review session, running approximately three hours. Day two begins with two hours of land drills before anyone gets in the water. Those drills cover compass operation, circular search patterns using a spool, knot tying, lift bag deployment, and DSMB launch technique. Working through these on land — where there's no current, no buoyancy to manage, and no wetsuit restricting movement — removes ambiguity before the skills come up at depth. After the land session, the group heads to open water for three dives: Underwater Navigation, Search & Recovery, and the Night dive. That day runs approximately six hours on site. Day three handles the remaining two dives: the Deep dive and the DSMB launch in open water. The Deep dive extends the recreational ceiling from 18 to 30 metres, which opens a significant range of dive sites that are off-limits to Open Water certified divers. The DSMB session focuses specifically on correct deployment during a drift decompression stop and on communicating position to the surface. Both dives are done at the sea site, again with approximately six hours allocated on the water. The school provides all equipment for the Advanced course: personal dive computer, compass, lantern, lift bag, DSMB, and anti-fog mask, in addition to the standard scuba set. Sea sessions typically take place at Ilha dos Papagaios off Cabo Frio, consistent with the school's open water training venue. Flávio Mayrink's approach to the Advanced dives mirrors the Open Water: repetition of land-based skills before applying them underwater, and a focus on understanding what each piece of equipment does rather than just using it. Requirements are an existing PADI Open Water Diver certification or equivalent from another recognized agency, and a minimum age of 12. Certification is issued within 24 hours of completing the fifth adventure dive. Advanced graduates receive the same priority access to Dive Soul's organized trips that Open Water alumni hold — including outings to Angra dos Reis — which gives the newly certified Advanced diver immediate opportunities to log dives at a different site with a familiar group.
