Advanced Open Water

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course at Key Largo Dive Center is your next step to expanding your underwater horizons beyond basic certification. This program is structured around five specialized Adventure Dives, with Deep Diver and Underwater Navigation being mandatory components. You will work with your instructor to select three additional dives from options like Wreck Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Fish Identification, Night Diver, and Drift Diving, tailoring the experience to your interests. The course emphasizes practical application, allowing divers to gain hands-on experience in different diving environments and conditions, crucial for exploring more challenging sites or enhancing overall proficiency.

This course is designed to build upon the skills and confidence gained during your Open Water Diver certification, preparing you for depths up to 30 meters (100 feet). Key Largo Dive Center leverages its location to offer diverse training scenarios, though specific dive sites are determined by conditions and chosen specialties. The theoretical components for these specialized dives are covered through PADI's eLearning, which must be completed prior to the in-water training sessions. This ensures you arrive prepared for the practical skills development.

Participants will need their basic scuba gear, plus a compass and dive knife or tool. Depending on the chosen Adventure Dives, specialized equipment such as a dive light or lift bag may be required. Key Largo Dive Center offers a 10% discount on dive equipment purchases for students enrolled in courses, making it easier to acquire necessary gear. The course typically takes two days to complete and is priced at $495, with a $200 deposit required to secure your spot.

Upon successful completion of the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course, you will receive a digital PADI e-card, with plastic cards available at an additional cost. This certification unlocks access to deeper dive sites and more advanced diving activities, serving as a stepping stone to further PADI specialties or the Rescue Diver course.
