Advanced Open Water

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course at Buzos Merluzos is your next step into deeper and more diverse underwater exploration. Building upon your Open Water Diver certification, this program allows you to safely explore depths down to 30 meters. You will complete five PADI-certified dives, including two mandatory dives: a Deep Dive to the 30-meter limit and an Underwater Navigation Dive focusing on compass skills and orientation. These core dives are crucial for developing advanced competencies and confidence.

Beyond the required dives, you'll select three elective dives from a range of specialties tailored to your interests. Popular options often include Night Diving, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Wreck Diving, Search and Recovery, or Underwater Videography/Photography. This flexibility ensures a dynamic learning experience, allowing you to customize your adventure and discover new facets of the underwater world. The course is designed to be both fun and educational, significantly broadening your diving possibilities.

Buzos Merluzos operates with PADI as their certifying agency, ensuring globally recognized standards for your advanced certification. The center offers instruction in Spanish, catering to local and international divers. While specific details on boat or dive site locations for these advanced dives are best confirmed directly with the center, the curriculum is structured to provide practical, hands-on experience in real diving conditions.

With an average sea temperature of 18.6°C, the waters offer a comfortable environment for diving throughout much of the year. While specific monthly climate data is available, the general conditions are conducive to extending your dive season. This course is the natural progression towards further PADI training, such as the Rescue Diver course, and equips you with the skills and experience needed for a wider array of underwater adventures.
