The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) at Lagos Divers is your direct path to becoming a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, empowering you to teach diving worldwide. As a PADI 5-Star IDC Center, Lagos Divers structures this intensive program to refine your instructional abilities, preparing you thoroughly for the PADI Instructor Examination (IE). The IDC is divided into the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program, with most candidates completing the full IDC for comprehensive preparation.
This approximately 10-day program delves into PADI Standards and Procedures, learning theory, and effective risk management. You will practice demonstrating dive skills, conducting effective briefings, and managing student divers in diverse scenarios, ensuring you develop into a confident and competent dive educator. Lagos Divers offers this IDC twice annually, providing a structured environment to hone your teaching skills and gain the practical knowledge and confidence essential for a successful career as a PADI Instructor.
Enrollment typically requires a PADI Divemaster certification with at least 60 logged dives (100 dives are necessary to attend the IE). Current Emergency First Response (EFR) Primary and Secondary Care training within the last 24 months is mandatory, along with a medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months. Lagos Divers also provides the opportunity to earn your EFR Instructor rating during the IDC, adding valuable credentials to your teaching portfolio.

Requirements
- At least 60 logged dives and 100 dives to attend an IE.
- Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) training within the past 24 months.

- You also need to be an Emergency First Response Instructor, but you can earn this rating during your instructor training.
