ADVANCED NITROX 40m

The Advanced Nitrox course is the entry point into Ocean Dreams' SSI Technical Extended Range programme. It opens up dives to 40 m with up to 15 minutes of decompression — the first step beyond recreational no-decompression limits.

The curriculum runs through gas physics and physiology in more depth than recreational courses, followed by four no-decompression dives where you apply the theory and refine your equipment configuration. Jan Lambert, who holds SSI TXR trainer credentials, runs the technical programme.

Entry requires an Enriched Air Nitrox certification, at least 24 logged dives (of which 6 or more must be with enriched air), and a minimum age of 18. This gates the course appropriately — you need practical nitrox experience before tackling the planning and gas management involved at this level.

From here, the progression at Ocean Dreams continues through Technical Foundations (45 m), Decompression Procedures (55 m), and into trimix territory. The south of Tenerife, with sites like Palm-Mar Cave reaching 35 m, provides relevant training terrain for the no-decompression dives in this course.
