SCR Diving

Kron Diving runs a dedicated program around the Mares Horizon semi-closed rebreather, positioned as an entry into SCR diving. The Horizon is described as a design built around simplicity: straightforward to set up, transport, dive, and maintain, with every component user-accessible. It's a different experience from open-circuit — longer bottom times, quieter underwater, and reduced bubble output.

Andreas, the Technical International Training Director at the center, has extensive experience with rebreathers in addition to his open-circuit technical work. Rebreather training here is delivered by someone who uses the equipment regularly, not an instructor who teaches it as a specialty add-on.

The dive sites around Rab — walls, canyons, and structures ranging from 5 m to beyond 40 m — are well-suited to the extended dive times that SCR diving makes possible. The Mares rental equipment on site covers standard open-circuit diving; SCR diving with the Horizon is a step into dedicated rebreather equipment.

Kron Diving also offers CCR courses for divers looking to progress beyond SCR. With both SCR and CCR programs running alongside the full Extended Range curriculum, the center functions as a genuine technical progression path rather than a recreational-only base.
