The PADI Deep Diver specialty course, offered by MacroDive, is specifically designed for certified divers aiming to safely extend their exploration beyond the standard recreational limits. This program focuses on mastering the procedures and techniques necessary for diving to depths of up to 40 meters, a significant increase from the typical 18-meter limit for Open Water Divers. You will learn about proper dive planning, essential equipment considerations for deeper environments, and how to manage the physiological effects associated with increased pressure, such as nitrogen narcosis. The course typically spans 2 to 3 days, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application.

Theoretical modules cover critical topics including advanced gas planning for deeper dives, understanding decompression theory, recognizing and mitigating nitrogen narcosis, and specific emergency protocols for deep diving scenarios. These sessions are complemented by four open water dives conducted under the direct supervision of your PADI instructor. During these dives, you will progressively increase your depth, practicing the skills learned in a controlled and safe manner. The PADI certification you will receive is recognized globally, enabling you to explore a wider array of dive sites, including deeper shipwrecks and vibrant reefs, responsibly.

To enroll in this specialty, you must be at least 15 years old and hold a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification or an equivalent qualification. A current medical certificate, valid for no more than two years, confirming your fitness to dive is mandatory. Diving insurance is also a requirement, and MacroDive can assist you in arranging this if you do not already possess it. For registration, please provide a copy of your ID (DNI/NIE) and one passport-sized photograph.

This specialty is a logical progression for divers seeking to unlock more challenging and rewarding dive sites. It significantly expands your capabilities and opens up access to a broader range of underwater environments. Many divers choose to combine the Deep Diver specialty with other PADI specialties, such as Wreck Diver or Enriched Air Diver, to further enhance their diving repertoire and explore the underwater world with greater confidence and skill.
