Formation Niveau 2

With Niveau 2, you move from supervised diving to something more independent. The FFESSM N2 certification allows autonomous diving to 20 m and guided dives as part of a palanquée to 40 m — a meaningful extension from the N1 ceiling, and the level needed to dive freely on most club outings without the encadrant ratio constraint.

Registration at CSV opens in mid-September. Pool phases are concentrated in October–November and again in April–May, fitting around the Atlantic sea season. Prerequisites are a valid Niveau 1 and a recommended 12 logged dives. The extra skills added at this level include guided group management, assisted ascents from 20 m, underwater navigation, palanquée leadership and buoy deployment — all rehearsed in the pool before sea validation.

Sea dives take place either in fresh water or in the sea depending on conditions. The club's calendar shows N2 formation dives in the Golfe du Morbihan, including at la Faille. The Fleur de corail is the usual platform. Two dedicated N2 formation dive slots appear in May, overlapping with the end of the pool cycle and the start of the main dive season.

Completing N2 removes the N1 supervision ratio and opens full access to the club's regular outing programme: les Gorets, le Grégan, Ria d'Etel, Houat, Groix. The autonomous diving range to 20 m covers the majority of sites the club dives regularly in the Morbihan. Divers pushing further need N3.

All instructors are FFESSM-qualified bénévoles. Pool sessions run at Kercado and Grandchamp in groups of up to six. The seasonal structure means the course takes a full year from registration to sea certification — the same deliberate pace as N1, suited to cold-water Atlantic diving where cutting corners in training is a bad idea.
