Wreck Diver

The PADI Wreck Diver specialty course, offered by CIESUB, provides the essential knowledge and skills for safely and responsibly exploring underwater shipwrecks. Each wreck tells a story, whether it sank by accident or was intentionally placed as an artificial reef, offering a unique glimpse into the past. This program focuses on researching wrecks, understanding their history, and identifying potential hazards before and during your dive.

Participants will learn specialized wreck diving techniques, including meticulous dive planning, effective navigation around wreck structures, and the use of equipment like reels and guideline systems for potential penetration dives. A strong emphasis is placed on techniques to avoid disturbing the wreck or its marine inhabitants, promoting responsible wreck exploration. You will also gain insights into mapping wrecks and identifying the diverse marine life that colonizes these artificial habitats.

The climate data for the region indicates average sea temperatures around 16.5°C, with monthly air temperatures ranging from 11.1°C in December to 21.5°C in August. While rainfall can be significant, particularly in October with 308.7 mm, the summer months of July and August offer drier conditions with less than 43 mm of rain. This varied climate suggests that dive planning should consider seasonal weather patterns.

To enroll in this specialty, you must be certified as at least an Adventure Diver or hold an equivalent rating, and be a minimum of 15 years old. A completed health declaration questionnaire is required, and a medical examination may be necessary depending on your health status. This specialty is particularly suited for divers with a keen interest in history and the exploration of underwater structures, building upon foundational diving skills.
