Découverte – Basic Diver SSI
The Basic Diver programme at Plongéquilibre is a step beyond the single try-dive. The session runs about 3.5 hours and includes two 30-minute dives at the Villeneuve-la-Garenne pit, plus a theory module. It's designed for people who want more than a one-off experience but aren't ready to commit to the full Open Water course yet. The recognition card you receive counts as partial credit toward both the Scuba Diver SSI and Open Water Diver SSI programmes. In practice that means the money and time spent here isn't wasted if you decide to continue — it applies directly to the next level. Minimum age is 10. The format is supervised throughout by a Plongéquilibre instructor in a controlled pool environment, making it a solid first step for anyone uncertain about committing to a multi-session certification.

All practical pool sessions are held at the diving pit in Villeneuve-la-Garenne, at 119 bd Charles de Gaulle.
The try-dive (baptême) is open from age 8. The Basic Diver discovery programme requires a minimum age of 10.
No. For the baptême you only need to be comfortable in the water. Swimming ability becomes a requirement once you start working toward Open Water Diver certification.
One 20-minute pool dive, a theoretical briefing (optional), and a recognition card. The full session runs about 90 minutes.
Nitrox 32% theory only is 79 €. The full Nitrox 40% specialty with pool session and certification is 159 €. Plongéquilibre recommends going straight to 40% — and pairing it with the Computer specialty (229 € for both) if you plan to dive autonomously.
595 € per person covers 3 nights at the 3-star hotel La Voile, 2 hotel breakfasts plus 1 at the dive centre, 2 lunches (one on Île de Port-Cros, one plancha on board), and 6 autonomous dives with tanks and weights. Nitrox is a 10 € supplement per dive; level validation costs 35 € per dive extra.
Theory and pool sessions can be completed in the Paris region. Open-water dives in a natural environment are required to finalise certifications above Basic Diver — Plongéquilibre organises these through its Mediterranean weekend trips.
Yes. The school offers SSI Divemaster and Instructor Training Course. A large part of the Divemaster preparation can be done from the Paris area. Pricing is on request.
