The SSI Scuba Diver course at Merak Diving is the intermediate step between Basic Diver and a full Open Water certification. It qualifies you to dive to 12 m with a dive professional and forms the first half of the Open Water programme, so credits carry forward if you decide to continue.

Merak Diving runs all its SSI courses from its Mahón base, with theory available online through the SSI e-learning platform. Pool or confined water sessions and open water dives take place at the protected sites near Mahón used for all beginner training — shallow, sandy-bottom locations with reliable conditions. The course is priced at 300€.

Because Merak also holds ITC instructor training status, the teaching staff here tends to come from a more rigorous professional background than a typical resort dive shop. SSI affiliation is required; if you're not already registered with SSI, the centre can set that up on enrolment.
