Malpica Diving is a professional diving center located in the Port of Malpica de Bergantiños, A Coruña, just 20 meters from the sea. Run by José Antonio (Tono) García Montes, an experienced diver with deep seafaring roots whose grandfather was one of the first barnacle harvesters in Malpica, the center combines family tradition with modern recreational diving training.
Certified by Scuba School International (SSI) and FEDAS, Malpica Diving offers a wide range of services, including diving courses from beginner to advanced levels, instructor training, introductory dives, regular outings for certified divers, guided snorkeling tours, and single or double kayak excursions along the waters of the Costa da Morte (Coast of Death). The center boasts complete facilities: parking 5 meters away, showers, changing rooms, a training room, and 20 complete sets of diving equipment available.
The Malpica diving area is known for its exceptional visibility compared to other areas, with peak season running from Easter to November. The most outstanding dive sites are located approximately 15 minutes by boat from the port, including the famous RMS Solway wreck, sunk 179 years ago and remarkably well-preserved. It is one of the center's main attractions due to its historical significance and the abundant marine life it harbors. Tono García, in addition to being an instructor, is passionate about underwater photography and wreck diving, experiences he shares with his students and clients.
Malpica Diving is distinguished by offering dives in waters with excellent visibility, access to numerous historic wrecks, and dive sites both in protected areas of the estuaries and in the open sea, catering to different experience levels and weather conditions.
