PADI Scuba Diver
The PADI Scuba Diver course at Big Fish runs over 1–2 days and includes five dives. It certifies divers to go to 12m when accompanied by a PADI professional — it's a partial Open Water qualification, useful for people with limited time who want an internationally recognised card at the end of the holiday rather than just an experience dive. Minimum age is 10 years. The five dives split between confined water skills practice and open water dives at the shallower end of the Big Fish site rotation. Playa Las Vistas at 6–10m is the main open water venue for candidates on this course, keeping depth well within the 12m ceiling. The sandy, predictable terrain here — right in front of the centre at Playa Las Vistas — gives a straightforward setting for buoyancy skills, mask clearing, and regulator recovery without distractions. The 300€ price covers the full five dives, Mares wetsuit and equipment across all sessions, van transfers, study materials in the candidate's language, and dive insurance. Instruction is available in English, German, Spanish, and Polish. The centre's small group format means candidates get direct instructor attention rather than waiting in a queue for skills checks. Scuba Diver certification is a recognised PADI credential, though it limits holders to 12m and requires diving with a professional. Many divers use it as a stepping stone and return to complete the remaining components for a full Open Water Diver certification. At Big Fish, the progression to OWD is straightforward — the Scuba Diver dives count toward the OWD requirement, so there's no redundant work involved in converting the certification later.
Rescue Diver + EFR
The PADI Rescue Diver combined with Emergency First Response training at Big Fish runs over four days and includes five dives. Minimum age is 16 years, and candidates need an existing Advanced Open Water certification. The 450€ fee covers the full course including EFR certification, all five dives, equipment, van transfers, and study materials in English, German, Spanish, or Polish. The EFR component covers CPR and first aid on land before moving to in-water rescue scenarios. The four-day structure alternates surface sessions with dives in the ocean around Los Cristianos, using the centre's site rotation to set up realistic problem scenarios in open water rather than a pool. Five dives over four days with active rescue work makes this a more physically and mentally demanding stretch than the AOWD course. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the session. With 24+ hours notice, a full refund is issued within 48 hours. Late cancellations or no-shows are charged in full. Arriving more than 30 minutes late counts as a no-show.
Yes. Alek, a professional photographer based at the centre, shoots underwater during sessions. Photos and video are available for purchase and collected after the dive.
OWD-certified divers can access El Bufadero (15–25m), La Caleta (15–22m), Cueva del Zorro (15–25m), El Condesito (15–20m), Roncadores Palm Mar (10–21m), and Pecios Gemelos (15–20m). The deeper sites — Cueva de las Morenas and El Meridian — require Advanced certification.
A Valiant DR 750 rigid inflatable, 6 metres long, carrying up to 12 divers and powered by a 150KW engine. It's designed for stability and comfort rather than speed, which makes for a relaxed transit to the dive sites.
A single guided dive is 50€. Two dives are 90€. Packs of 3–5 dives cost 40€ per dive, and 6–10 dives drop to 35€ each. Online booking gives a 10% discount on packages.
