Discover Scuba Diving

The Discover Scuba Diving programme at Marina Divers runs over 2 days and is split into three parts: a short theory session, confined water skills practice in the shallows, and then an open water dive on the Concorde El Salam house reef to a maximum depth of 12 metres. That house reef — known locally as White Knights — is the first dive for almost everyone coming through the centre, and it's well suited to the job: clear water, marine life including moray eels and reef fish, and no long boat ride required. The programme is designed for complete beginners with no prior experience. The minimum age is 10 years old. Supervision is provided by a PADI-certified instructor throughout, including the open water dive. The 3 to 4 hour format means it fits inside a single morning or afternoon for guests on a tight holiday schedule. This course also functions as the entry point to the full PADI Open Water Diver certification. Completing the Discover Scuba Diving experience counts as credit toward the Open Water if the participant decides to continue — so it's not a dead end, it's the first step of the ladder if needed. Booking can be made online with the current promo code for a percentage discount off the listed price.

PADI Open Water Diver

The PADI Open Water Diver course at Marina Divers runs 3 to 4 days and follows the standard PADI structure: 5 theory modules, 5 confined water sessions and 4 open water dives. The centre sits beachfront at the Concorde El Salam Hotel, so the early confined water work and some open water dives happen on the house reef — accessible without a boat and in clear, calm conditions that work well for building initial skills. The course includes the PADI Open Water Diver manual, a video component, classroom sessions with a PADI instructor and a logbook. All scuba diving gear is included. Reviews from past students mention the reef as clean and well-populated with fish, and one German-language review specifically comments that the equipment is regularly maintained. The open water dives take students into the Red Sea proper. The Middle Garden site, part of the Gardens complex to the south, is listed by Marina Divers as an excellent site for Open Water Dives — a shallow bay with reef fish and good visibility. Certification through PADI is internationally recognised and opens the door to further courses on the same trip, including the Advanced Open Water.

Details

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

The Advanced Open Water course at Marina Divers runs 3 days and covers 5 dives. Deep and navigation are fixed — the deep dive typically goes to 30 metres, which in Sharm means sites like the Thistlegorm wreck or the deeper sections of the local reefs are within reach as training venues. The remaining three adventure dives are chosen by the student and instructor together. Marina Divers specifically lists the dives particularly suited to the Sharm area: Multilevel Diver, Drift Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, AWARE Fish Identification, Underwater Naturalist and Night Diver. The Straits of Tiran and northern sites like Ras Bob and Ras Nasrani are current-prone locations that make Drift Diver a logical pick. The house reef at White Knights is listed as suitable for night diving. The course includes the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver manual, instruction by a certified PADI instructor, access to a suitable location for each certification dive, and a logbook to record experiences. Gear is included. The AOW is a common choice for guests already holding an Open Water who want to extend their depth range and dive variety on the same holiday. At least one Tripadvisor reviewer mentions completing the AOW with Marina Divers and describes both the service and prices positively.

PADI Rescue Diver

The PADI Rescue Diver course runs 2 to 3 days and includes 4 dives. It covers diver assists, basic first aid, recognising and responding to dive emergencies, self-rescue and simulated rescue scenarios in the water. The practical exercises are conducted with PADI-certified instructors from the Marina Divers team. To join the course, participants need to hold a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent) and must have completed the PADI Emergency First Response course or a CPR programme within the past 24 months. The Emergency First Response course is also available directly through Marina Divers, so both can be completed back-to-back on the same trip if needed. All scuba diving gear is included. The Rescue Diver certification is a prerequisite for the PADI Divemaster programme, so it's a natural next step for anyone considering professional-level training with the centre.

Details

PADI Emergency First Response

The Emergency First Response course at Marina Divers runs approximately 4 hours. It covers CPR, managing choking, oxygen administration as a first aid measure for diving-related injuries, drowning and near-drowning response, and basic injury and illness management. The programme is open to divers and non-divers alike — it doesn't require any prior diving certification. It's a standalone course but also serves as the CPR prerequisite for the PADI Rescue Diver course. Completing it at Marina Divers means both qualifications can be done in sequence without switching centres.

Details

PADI Divemaster

The Divemaster course at Marina Divers runs 15 days — the longest programme on the centre's roster. It combines practical dive scenarios with dive theory, mentored experience supervising certified divers, and close work with a PADI Instructor to refine both dive skills and rescue capabilities. E-learning is available as part of the programme. Trainees learn to plan and execute dive activities, lead certified divers in the water, and manage the day-to-day logistics of a dive operation. The Concorde El Salam beachfront location means trainees get exposure to both shore-based diving on the house reef and boat-based trips to offshore sites including the Thistlegorm, Dunraven and Ras Mohamed — a varied training environment across 31+ years of established site knowledge. Divemaster is the first professional-level rating in the PADI system and a prerequisite for the PADI Instructor Development Course. Completing it at a centre with more than three decades of Red Sea operations gives trainees practical exposure to a wide range of site types — wrecks, reefs, drift sites and walls — in a single course.

PADI Enriched Air Nitrox

The Nitrox specialty at Marina Divers runs 1 to 2 days and includes 2 dives. The course covers calculating and using enriched air mixtures, safe handling and storage of nitrox tanks, analysis of nitrox cylinders, and extends certification to use enriched air up to 40% oxygen content. In practical terms, Nitrox is a useful addition in Sharm El Sheikh specifically because most guests do 2-dive days to offshore sites like Ras Mohamed or the Tiran reefs — and the extended no-decompression limits it provides at 20–30 metres translate directly into more time on the reef between ascents. It's one of the more pragmatic specialty options here rather than a niche add-on. Instruction is provided by PADI-certified instructors. All scuba diving gear is included.

Details

PADI Deep Diver

The Deep Diver specialty runs 3 days and covers 4 dives, taking certified divers to a maximum depth of 40 metres. The course covers deep dive planning, physiological and psychological effects of deeper diving, equipment configuration for greater depths, and procedures for managing those conditions. Sharm El Sheikh has genuine deep options within day-trip range: the Dunraven sits at 32 metres, the main Thistlegorm structure is at 30 metres, and the Yolanda's main superstructure has slipped to 80+ metres on the Ras Mohamed reef slope — well beyond sport diving range, but the upper sections of the site are within 40 m. The Deep Diver specialty creates a meaningful increase in which sites and sections of those sites are accessible. All scuba diving gear is included. Instruction is by PADI-certified instructors.

Details

PADI Wreck Diver

The Wreck Diver specialty runs 3 to 4 days and covers 4 dives. It teaches navigation inside and around wreck structures, the principles and safety procedures for penetration dives, and the historical and cultural context of the wrecks being explored. Marina Divers has an unusually well-stocked local wreck inventory to draw from: the SS Thistlegorm (30 m, 126 m long, sunk 1941), the Dunraven (32 m, steam cargo vessel, sunk 1876), the Lara and Louilla on Jackson and Gordon reefs in the Straits of Tiran, the shallow Kormoron on the North Lagoon outer reef, the Yolanda with its cargo of bathroom fittings on the Ras Mohamed reef slope, and the Panza site with army tanks off the Sharm headland. Few centres anywhere can offer that range within day-trip distance. The Thistlegorm in particular is described by the centre as one of the best wreck dives in the world. Penetration dives are specifically mentioned for the Dunraven given its well-preserved condition and size. All gear is included.

Details

PADI Drift Diver

The Drift Diver specialty runs 1 to 2 days with 2 dives. It covers safe navigation in currents, use of a Surface Marker Buoy and reel, water entry and exit in current conditions, buoyancy control while drifting, and emergency procedures specific to drift diving. The Red Sea sites around Sharm El Sheikh are genuinely current-prone — the Straits of Tiran is a main shipping lane where strong tidal flow creates the nutrient-rich conditions that support the reef life, and Ras Bob and Ras Nasrani to the north are also known for currents. The Drift Diver specialty is a practical addition for anyone planning to dive these sites independently after the trip. All scuba diving gear is included. Instruction by a certified PADI instructor.

Details

PADI Night Diver

The Night Diver specialty runs 1 to 2 days and covers 2 dives. It addresses night diving equipment, navigation and communication in low-light conditions, buoyancy control after dark, nocturnal aquatic life and their behaviours, and safety planning for night dives. Marina Divers lists the house reef at White Knights as suitable for night diving — a practical starting point given its shore accessibility and familiar layout from daytime dives. The reef's nocturnal residents — including moray eels — behave differently at night and are more active, which changes the dive experience meaningfully even on a site guests may already know from the day. All scuba diving gear is included.

Details

PADI Underwater Photographer

The Underwater Photographer specialty runs 2 to 3 days. It covers underwater photography equipment and techniques, hands-on training taking photos and video in the water, guidelines for photographing marine life and divers in motion, and awareness of the impact of photography on the underwater environment. The course requires participants to bring or use a camera and photography gear — this is listed separately from the scuba equipment provided. Ras Um Sid, one of the local sites listed by the centre, is specifically noted as ideal for photographers and videographers due to its clear water and coral formations. The Thistlegorm and Dunraven wrecks also offer photogenic subjects for participants who progress to boat dive sites during the course. Instruction by a PADI-certified instructor. All scuba diving gear is included; camera and photography gear is required separately.
