SSI Scuba Diver

The SSI Scuba Diver course at Brothers Diving in Gran Canaria runs over two days and ends with an internationally recognised SSI certification allowing you to dive to 12 metres under the supervision of a professional. It's a condensed route into certification — roughly half the scope of the Open Water Diver course — designed for people who want a legitimate qualification without committing to the full programme upfront.

Theory is handled through the mySSI app before you arrive in Gran Canaria if you want to make the most of your time on the island. The app covers gear, underwater communication, buoyancy, and pressure — all at your own pace. Quizzes and the exam are also available remotely, so there's no need to sit in a classroom on day one.

Confined water sessions at Brothers Diving focus on breathing technique, buoyancy control, and the basic safety procedures you'll use in the open ocean. The instructors — all dual SSI and PADI rated — run these sessions with the same care they bring to the intro programmes. Two open water dives in Gran Canaria's coastal sites follow, putting the confined-water skills into practice in the actual ocean.

The €399 fee includes e-learning access via mySSI, two confined water sessions, two open water dives, diving insurance, all equipment (Fourth Element, Scubapro, Cressi, Tecline, Mares), transport from Maspalomas, a Brothers Diving T-shirt, and a dive log via the mySSI app. Booking requires a €100 deposit that grants immediate e-learning access. The deposit is non-refundable but never expires, and the e-learning works at any SSI centre worldwide if your plans change. Minimum age is 10.
