Опис курсу

The SDI Wreck Diver Course at Divexplore offers a deep dive into the specialized techniques required for exploring underwater historical sites. This course can be structured as a non-penetration experience, involving two dives, or a limited-penetration course with three dives, focusing on swim-throughs within ambient light. The curriculum emphasizes maximizing safety protocols when navigating wreck environments. You will learn essential skills such as researching wreck sites, creating site maps, and the effective use of lines for navigation and maintaining safety.

Key learning modules include understanding surface support, communication strategies, backup procedures, and the critical buddy system, with a focus on maintaining contact and utilizing lines for orientation and signaling. The course also addresses the complexities of varied visibility conditions and maintaining proper buddy positioning in close proximity to wreck structures. Navigation and charting techniques tailored for wrecks are a core component, incorporating slates, pre-dive planning with charts, and directional determination.

Emergency procedures for common scenarios like disorientation, lost buddies, or equipment failure are thoroughly covered. The course also discusses specialized equipment, including primary and backup lighting systems with sufficient burn times, and appropriate cutting devices. You will gain knowledge in managing limited visibility, dealing with silt-outs, and understanding the psychological aspects of wreck diving. Prerequisites include being an SDI Open Water Scuba Diver or equivalent, a completed fit-to-dive medical form, and meeting age requirements (minimum 18 years, or 15 for limited penetration with parental consent; 10 for non-penetration with parental consent).

Divers must also hold an SDI Deep Diver specialty certification or demonstrate equivalent experience to safely conduct dives beyond 18 meters/60 feet. The course fee of £365 covers tuition and an eLearning code. Please note that full scuba equipment rental, site entry fees, travel, and accommodation are not included in this price. This specialty certification is a valuable step for divers looking to expand their exploration capabilities into historical underwater environments.
