Deep Diving

Expand your underwater horizons with the Deep Diving technical course at Tiedemann's Diving Center. This program is meticulously designed for certified divers eager to explore depths typically ranging from 60 to over 100 feet. You will gain comprehensive knowledge of the physiological effects and inherent risks of deep diving, including Decompression Sickness (DCS), Oxygen Poisoning, and Nitrogen Narcosis, developing the expertise to manage these challenges effectively. The course includes critical skills such as the proper use of ascent lines and pony bottles for managing gas supply and safety, alongside advanced techniques for planning and executing deeper dives. This training is offered in conjunction with IDEA, SSI, and TDI certifications, reflecting the center's commitment to high standards.

The practical component of this course takes place at Dutch Springs, a renowned dive site known for its excellent visibility and unique underwater features, providing a controlled yet engaging environment for deep diving practice. While specific monthly sea temperatures are available, with averages around 12.7°C, the training schedule is optimized to leverage the best conditions. The academic review sessions are conducted on Long Island, allowing for focused theoretical preparation before the hands-on dives.

To enroll in the Deep Diving program, you must hold an Open Water Diver certification and have successfully completed the Computer Diving and Wreck Diving courses. A minimum of 25 logged dives is also required, ensuring a solid foundation in essential diving skills and relevant specialties. This prerequisite ensures that all participants are well-prepared to safely tackle the complexities of deep diving. The course structure involves one to two academic review sessions followed by four practical dives over two days.

Tiedemann's Diving Center offers instruction in multiple languages, including German, English, French, and Dutch, catering to a diverse range of international divers.
