Your practical training will take place at Dutch Springs, a renowned dive site known for its clear waters and interesting underwater topography. The course includes one academic review session at Tiedemann's Diving Center on Long Island, followed by two open water dives at Dutch Springs during one of their scheduled weekends. This hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced instructors is key to solidifying your navigation abilities in a real-world diving environment.

The waters around Long Island, where Tiedemann's Diving Center is located, experience a range of temperatures throughout the year. For instance, October offers average sea temperatures around 14.1°C, while July can reach up to 24.1°C, providing varied conditions for training. This variability means divers can experience different thermal layers and visibility conditions, further enhancing their adaptive navigation skills.

Tiedemann's Diving Center offers this specialty course with a strong emphasis on personalized instruction, ensuring very limited class sizes.
