The PADI Rescue Diver course at Poggi Sub is designed to build upon your existing diving knowledge, transforming you into a more confident and capable diver. This advanced certification focuses on accident prevention and management, equipping you with the psychological and practical skills to effectively handle dive emergencies. Poggi Sub emphasizes realistic scenarios and comprehensive skill development, ensuring you are well-prepared for unexpected situations. To enroll, you must be at least 15 years old, hold an Advanced Open Water Diver certification, have completed an Emergency First Response course (or equivalent first aid training), and have logged at least 20 dives. These prerequisites ensure a solid foundation for this challenging yet rewarding training.
This course curriculum covers a wide array of critical topics, including self-rescue techniques, recognizing and managing stress in fellow divers, assisting panicked divers, and providing emergency care underwater. You will learn how to respond to missing divers, techniques for surfacing an unresponsive diver, managing dive emergencies, administering in-water artificial respiration, and dealing with equipment problems and dive accidents. The practical training includes dedicated pool sessions to hone various rescue skills, followed by at least one open water dive to simulate emergency scenarios. Poggi Sub offers a PADI digital e-learning kit for flexible theoretical study, with practical sessions conducted in open water, often over two sessions.
Poggi Sub provides a PADI digital e-learning kit for the theoretical part of the course, allowing for flexible study. The practical sessions are designed to be demanding and realistic, often conducted in open water environments. Participants are strongly advised to have their own personal diving equipment, including a pocket mask, though tanks will be provided. Rental options are available for those lacking equipment. A medical certificate for non-competitive sports activity with an aquatic sports designation is required. Please note there is a price increase and a shift to summer logistics, including Sunday morning pool sessions, from June 1st to September 15th.
Upon successful completion of the PADI Rescue Diver course at Poggi Sub, you will receive a PADI certification, recognizing your enhanced ability to assist in dive emergencies. This certification is a pivotal step, preparing you for the PADI Divemaster course and significantly increasing your confidence and competence in any diving environment. Poggi Sub also offers a special discounted rate when combining the Rescue Diver and EFR-BLSD courses, making it an excellent opportunity to gain comprehensive emergency response skills.
